Lord knows why because he's not much cop but I would like Joselu to come good . Doubt it will happen but he's not 1st on my list to go.

I'd shift Darlow over Elliot and promote Woodman. Elliot just brings that bit more experience to the camp.

I think we just keep our CB's we have decent coverage there.

Need to go all out on a proper good CF as top top priority.

    All depends on our status.
If Newcastle United get relegated, then we'll need those 'sheet' players to have yet another season in the Championship.

Maybe this Mitrovic fella tearing it up in the Championship, I wonder what he would cost?

Nah he's 30 yr old, he doesn't have the same potential as a 23 yr old target man who has yet to enter his best years. I think you've just looked at the scoring charts rather than the overall package in terms of all round game, potential, age, type of striker etc .

Aye but both have only proven themselves at Championship level.
It's no good to me that Pouchy lad, may as well replace Joselu with someone just as **** but is younger by your logic.
Loved the bait crap about all-round game mind.

I think Mitrovic has a respectable record in the PL for someone of his age in terms of goals to starts ratio. I could be wrong though. I wouldn't advocate buying someone just as **** as Joselu, that wouldn't make any sense. Hence I suggested someone with far superior ability in Mitrovic <cheers>

Considering everyone expects Mitrovic and Joselu to be replaced, I was making separate comparisons.
Sooooo it's like selling Mitrovic and buying someone with the same lack of talent but is a few years younger.
Actually, good idea mate! I'm glad you advocate his sale, maybe you can stop harping on about him now :azn:

Even if we stay up I reckon he could do a pretty decent job in the PL if someone loved him.

I do advocate his sale as the manager hasn’t got a clue how to manage him. That much is clear to anyone with eyes and a brain.

Someone on here mentioned he should look at how Costa plays. 100% agree with that. Costa knows he's not going to out strip defences and he is absolutely excellent at playing to his strengths. Mitro could definitely have a similar type of game and be very effective.

Like Gayle proved himself in the Championship and then went on to do well in the Premiership? Mitro (9 in 36) still has more E.P.L. goals than Gayle (8 in 43) since 2015/16 having played a season less than him...

As Freedor says all about a manager who can actually manage him, done it at international level and every other club he's been at. Look at Glenn Murray this season, played to his strengths and he's got into double figures. We've played to our "preferred" strikers game and got **** all in return from them bar Gayles little renaissance in the last 2/3 games.

Burn Gayle, Burn Joselu, £10m for the pair and get a decent striker (£15-20m) in and promote Mitro and Arma.

Its 10 in 42 to be fair on Mitro. However only its only 22 starts and 20 from the bench. I'm sure on a goals to minutes ratio it would work out about 1 goal every 2.5 games ish. Not bad for 21-23 yr old. Particularly of his type.

Its why I wouldn't be too harsh on him, its not like Gayle and Joselu who supposedly at their peak.

Benitez said himself a striker like him can't operate with 40% possession and I'd like to see proof that he can do that myself.
Anderlecht- battering their league for fun
Fulham- joined a team that had won 5 of our last 7. Both enjoy majority possession. At least Grabban actually scored in a ****e team for half the season.
To me it not exactly proof he can lead our front in a team battling relegation and it's great saying play to strengths, but we hardly have the team for it. We've had to create a system from **** and that tends to happen when you dint get the pretty reasonable first choice transfers you wanted from day 1 of the window.
We aren't playing our preferred strikers game if he didn't get the striker he wanted at the start of the season.
Comparing Gayle (a PL winger/ converted Champ Striker) to Mitro (born Striker) isn't much use to me. We could easily say how come Glenn Murray's fairing better than Mitro in his one PL season.
Anyways the argument that's creating is that I somehow think Gayle is the man that should be leading our line in future.
I don't, I just don't think it will be Mitro, nor do I think he would have dramatically helped us at this current time.
I will honestly wage my life that Mitro had more chances with McLaren's pass-ball and no defence (plus a better midfield) than our striker force has had this season. But then that team got relegated and ours won't be (I think)
People have short memories of how annoyed they got with him missing chance after chance in the PL.
We went on to sell some of our players for 15/20/30m that season. Only Lascelles would command that fee in this team, we are dog-turd.

Totally agree with the promotion of Arma mind. Lad deserves a chance now surely, particularly as he's homegrown. Don't see anyone saying build a system around him though.

To be honest though the main argument isn't about goals. His all round game wipes the floor with both Gayle and Joselu in my opinion. I don't know if you have watched him for Fulham but the lad is working his socks off. He is bringing others into play too with his hold up play. He is just a much better player for me.

To be fair every manager has players they have no idea how to get the best out of, and players they can get ticking that others can't. I think we just have to chalk it up in the failure column for Rafa and hope he is more hit than miss with managing players. His record with some others at the club has been good.

I'd like to see Arma promoted but I think you just have to accept that Rafa and Mitro isn't going to work. I'm not even sure Mitro would want to play for him even if he did keep him. His treatment hasn't been great. Again though in Rafa's defence that is because in his mind he doesn't want him. Most managers make little effort with players they don't want despite what they say to the contrary. I know Pep and Poch are lauded as looking after everyone, but they are an exception to the rule. Lets face it, Rafa isn't as good as them.
