1th July Chorley A 14th July Bamber Bridge A 21 st July Southport A 28th July Carlisle A 29th July Ashington A 1st August Bury A There are rumours of games against Hearts and Real Sociadad not confirmed as yet
Off to Victory Park, Chorley on Saturday the first match of the build up to a return to Championship football, there is a trophy on offer, the Jack Kirkland trophy which we have won 9 times in the last 10 years only half sharing it the other time when medal winners Westley's finest could only draw 1 all with the home side. Chorley missed out on a place in the Conference by throwing away a 2 goal half time lead against Guiseley and lost 3-2 in the Conference North final play off. Spent a lot of time on Victory Park when I lived in the area, one of the coldest grounds in the world so those going wrap up well. No idea on teams for this epic suspect both sides will use about 20 players, good work out before the serious stuff starts.
0-0 in front of 2022 at Victory Park, Garner missing a late penalty, already some fans are in meltdown that we failed to win, next up Bamber Bridge at the Irongate stadium, no doubt will use 20 plus players again. Good fitness work out, may even go if weather is decent.
I think you summeed it up very well for both teams 'Good fitness workout'. There are the usual doom merchants on the LEP site who would have complained had PNE beat Chorley 10-0 as an irrelevant exercise playing a non-league team.
Yep doom and gloom abounds mainly due to lack of signings but some of our support would be depressed if we beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final
Good to see Reid and Hugill coming into form. Saturday's match will be more of a challenge and may see the true extent of their progress. The situation over Johnstone and United is a confusing one. Will De gea go or stay? Valdes is on his way out which may mean MU will need Johnstone anyway.
Grayson confident Sam will be in goal by the time the season kicks off, as he is not our player external things get considered first. Our one and only home friendly against Scottish Premier League side Hearts, they slaughtered all and sunder in the Championship last season, now hopefully clear of the financial difficulties that got them relegated. They should bring a large support across the border on Saturday, as with friendlies expect plenty of changes and do not read too much into the result although some will.
It is just nice to get the football rolling again. Especially since it looks as though the Aussies are on course to thrash England 4 - 1! Daren't look at today's scoreboard.
There's the goal from yesterday as you can see the level of Scottish keeping is not improving. Southport next up, no won't be there, so no match report, another mix and match side, should win but being Pseudo Scousers they will probably kick us off the pitch
4-0 win at Southport, Hugill, Little, Keane and Brownhill score now up to Scotland for a match before two more games in the far north of England
Motherwell at Livingston's ground tomorrow night, actually thought about going to this one, however a three hour journey home on a Friday night from the Scottish wastelands is not really on. Motherwell stayed in the SPL by beating Rangers over two legs 6-1 watched both games, the second was remarkable for some dire Rangers goalkeeping and a punch up at the end of the game which was memorable. Garner, Beckford and Gallagher didn't play against Southport but will play tomorrow night, no signings in view at the moment so will be the normal squad. 15 days till the start of the season, excitement is starting to grow.
