Logically they probably give it their all. However, when it's crunch time, do they have the loyalty and passion for the club to dig deep and pull out the motivation to succeed? I doubt it. It doesn't make much sense really. I mean if it isn't their club, and their loan is finite, why would they care THAT much? It's just that little edge which is missing. It also depends on the reception they're receiving. Ben Arfa flourished in the few games he played because the toon army metaphorically sucked his length every second he was on the pitch. Incredible reception and that goal against Everton put him in our good books big style. Now if you have a number of loan players, and the going gets tough, and negativity sets in from fans and the media, I think they would have far less patience and tolerance to accept it. After all, the clubs fans aren't their fans. They have their own club and fans elsewhere. You need a solid permanent team which is signed to the club. Sure, bring in someone good on loan. He'll be unique and he'll feel special (like Ben Arfa did). However, if you bring in 4 or 5 on-loan players, it just changes the whole dynamic of the team.
Wish we had signed Tiote he was outstanding the other night went from 3 mil to 15 overnight, bet theres a few banging on the door for his services in the summer.
It's not only a Summer clear out it's a whole new team we need, there was another thread on here a couple of weeks ago asking where we need to strengthen I had us down for 2 CBs, LB, LW, CM, CF and with the news about Campbell make that 2 CFs, basically the whole spine of the team needs a revamp. It took some time but he has finally seen what we all knew from the second time Muntari played he is pants and should be sent back now not in the summer, he also sees the futility of too many loan players. The loanees do have a part to play in any team and, I can see why SB has loaned players for a full year/season to have a look at them in regard to buying them. However if he thinks they are good enough already then a 3 month loan deal would show if they have it or not, we have loaned too many players who don't play enough or are not bothered and come to us to put themselves in the shop window in the hope a Man Utd or Chelsea notice them.
Four words that haunt me every seaon,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, are,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,IF WE STAY UP.
Think we will stay up Bill Think we will have a summer clear out Think we wil re build Not sure who the manager will be who does it..
Me neither Syd, but the years are flashing by, once just once would be enough,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,an you know what I mean.
Once we're safe from the drop, I want to see Angeleri and Riveros in for all remaining games, plus Muntari playing for those games on the left wing. I just think it's crazy to talk about clear-outs when some of our squad haven't even been given a chance to show what they can do. Let's have a look at these lads and THEN make a sensible decision.
I want to see this happen too. We've seen a little of Riveros and TBH, he was found wanting, but that is because of the pace of the PL. He, like many before him at other PL clubs has found it harder to adjust than others, who seem to slot right in to the PL style of play. Angeleri just hasn't been given a chance. Sure, he was below the required standard against Notts County, but so were the rest of the team that SB put out that day. Finally, it's Muntari who I agree has not performed to the best of his ability yet. I have been banging on for a while now that he should be tried on the left wing, because that is where he plays for Ghana and that is where he excelled against England in the recent friendly. As you say, they need to be given a chance in their correct positions to show us what they can do.......but only after we are safe from the drop!
Correct, glass houses spring to mind Rog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,retaliatory verbals after the ads, and protestations.
Syd, I bet you still go for the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle. Rodger, I posted the 'funny' as you usually try and tear a new asshole from any our northern neighbours, even for quite innocuous comments. Bill - pfft.
