Roberto Feminine Max Kruse- close enough to Klose Bender- just for the name, ****ing bench shot Schmelzer- another cracking name Badstuber- which means banged RHC daughter.
Hearing strong rumours a Mascherano bid is being lined up. Honestly, as long as we're not paying upwards of £16m I'd be ecstatic! Have missed Masch-ey boy
be very happy if that was true, think his wife has had enough of the sun then and wants rain now lol wasn't she the issue before, why would now be any dif?
Today is the day! Liverpool to sign Ashley Williams. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is drawing up a multi-million shopping list for the summer, including Southampton playmaker Adam Lallana, 25, and Barcelona's former Reds midfielder Javier Mascherano, 29. Torino winger Alessio Cerci, 26, and Swansea defender Ashley Williams, 29, are also targets. We'll get these Williams rumours for ever I hear. Manchester United and Liverpool want to bring former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, 26, back to the Premier League from Barcelona. Liverpool and Chelsea are chasing Fenerbahce midfielder Caner Erkin, 25, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
This window will just be full of disappointing links from the media; Williams (****), Mascherano (old), Lallana (expensive), Song (****) and Caulker (). I think Rodgers will get a few that no one expected.
Like Konoplyanka. I think we may see surprise names at LB and CM as I think they will be the hardest spots to fill. Daniel Parejo or Cesc Fabrigas for midfield. Not sure for LB. Alex for CB?
From the Echo: Worm The headline: Liverpool FC transfer gossip: Real Madrid to offer £60m for Suarez; Rodgers looks at Worm;
I don't know why people knock Caulker so much, i quite rate him Good Old English style centre back, only 22 if i am right, a few years experience in the premiership, as good as Cahill was a few years ago at Bolton and he was being banded around at £15 mill, and reported £6mill buy out clause Vocal, will organise, even as back up is a bit of a snip at that prize, at least better value than, premiership untested young foreigners (Coates, Llori etc). Him, Sakho and Llori would sort us for the future
At CB old school is fine. If it means conceding less and better vocal organisation then I'm all for it.
Captained Cardiff so experience at organizing and taking responsibilty I know there will be the "only cardiff " comments but how many 22 year old Captains in the Premiership???? Caulker is 6'3" , quick and is only 22 with 2 years + premiership experience. Apparently, i have just read that Brendon wanted him last year but Spuds wouldn't sell to us, sold to Cardiff cheaper Brendan also had him on loan at Swansea, so would think he knows his style Would much prefer him to Williams that keeps getting mentioned I think all teams should have a British centre half, failing that a Scandinavian or Northern European, a bit of grit and steel, that doesn't mind getting stuck in. Most of the best have come from one of these regions
Our defence gets knocked a lot, but the problems are in the midfield and at full back making us exposed. Two new full backs are a must and a box to box midfielder. Konoplyanka is a cert imo, sadly means we won't go for the likes of Reus. Ashley Williams?? The guy is a knob and at 29, I don't know. Mascherano on the other hand, the guy could be 50 and he would do a job in midfield. The exact energy we need, covers back for the full backs, gets a yellow card every game, but still brilliant. Maybe he is fed up with playing in defence for a weakening Barca?
Agree with the first bit completely. I also agree on a Mascherano type, that is exactly what we need IMO. Have someone sat there to protect, cover and destroy leaving the other two midfielders to do their thing. Just not convinced that person should be the actual Mascherano, he's 29 (turns 30 in June) and would cost upwards of £12m
£12m for Masch wouldn't be too bad, We'd get 2 or 3 years out of him and in an area we really need would be a good signing. He'd still provide a lot of energy even at that age and while maybe not be his best like he was 4 year ago, he'd be a vast improvement. If we can find someone like him for younger then sure, but I couldn't name one at the moment. His distribution is also very good despite it not being his biggest strength and playing for Barca would have only helped that.
Without doubt he would be a vast improvement on our current midfield but he'd also need a year to re-find his feet after playing CB for so long. I doubt I could ever name another player like him, others will laugh considering players like Dunga, Makelele, Keane and Vieira were about but I don't think there as been a good a DM as him and I've certainly not seen one since. His best attributes were key for a DM; pace, acceleration, tackling, game reading, covering, energy, etc, all perfect for a DM IMO. Also, since he used his family as a excuse to get away AND drop us in the **** at the time of leaving having refused to play (not entirely a **** since Woy was in charge), will he want to come back and/or would he be accepted?
we should try and get both lol, our younger players would learn a lot off those 2 in midfield. we have the youngsters for the future, but apart from gerrard they don't have enough experience or quality in the team to learn off.
