Adam Lallana and Steve Caulker - two talented Englishmen but f*ck me, if these are the targets, then what is the point of getting back into the CL?
Must admit I don't fancy either of them. I asked my mate about targets last night and he's not aware of anything as yet.
I think we really need a real "wow" signing this summer. Especially now we're back in the CL. Something around the £25/30m mark.
Top class player, incredibly intelligent and versatile. Bundesliga have some great players - instead of Lallana, I would much rather go for Roberto Firmino - he's special.
Throw Max Kruse in there, Lars or Sven Bender, and Schmelzer. Let's do the German and one Brazilian thang.
The likes of Müller I never see leaving. Shaqiri is an achievable target. I would love for us to go for Reus too.
Liverpool have agreed on a settlement with Celta Vigo on a final payment regarding the transfer of Iago Aspas. Spanish forward Iago Aspas has not exactly had the dream start to life in England. The former Celta Vigo attacker arrived on Anfield for a fee in the region of £7.7 million after an excellent season in La Liga. But despite his excellent record in Spain the Premier League has not been kind to him. He has struggled to break into the Liverpool first-team for much of the campaign and in his 15 appearances has scored just once. With that in mind it has been rumoured for some time that he could leave the club this summer - returning to Spain. He dispelled that rumour today, stating: I have not thought about my future yet. I still have three more years under contract at the club. I took a big jump when I decided to move from Celta to Liverpool and I'm not going to jump off a bridge wanting to leave the club just one year after.” But the truth is Liverpool have actually only just sorted out the finer points of this deal - bringing to an end a lengthy dispute between the club and Celta Vigo. Iago Aspas himself Tweeted a link to an article which explains the conflict between both clubs: Essentially the issue has been over payments owed to the clubs which helped shape his talents before he even moved to Celta. Payment is due to any team who has helped in the development of a player between the age of twelve and 23 - at which point Aspas has played not just for Celta but hometown club Moana, Santa Marina and Rapido de Bouzas. The three teams were owed €22.5k, €22.5k again and €45k respectively for their help developing the now 26-year-old player. After months of quite bitter bickering between Liverpool and Celta a settlement has now been reached - leaving Liverpool an irritating but not costly €90k out of pocket - money they have previously argued Celta Vigo should be paying. The case was on the brink of being reported to FIFA but Liverpool appear to have avoided a potentially damaging legal battle by giving in on the issue and paying up the cash. For the three clubs involved it is massive money - so they will be very pleased to have received their payment. So Liverpool have finally settled the deal that brought him to the club - what remains to be seen is just how long Aspas stays. http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014...ettle-finer-parts-of-77m-deal-after-10-month/ Not Aspas's fault but bloody hell
For 90,000euro I would have sent Aspas back. He is awful and I just can't see him doing anything for us
If we do sign anyone from Southampton it should be Lovren he is a class act and would organise the defence like Carra used to do. We need better defenders not more number 10's
Exactly my thoughts! Lallana at 20mil leaves me terrified of downing part 2 Considering we were in for Mkhitaryan last year, what is the point of CL footie? we must aim higher
Lallana I like and I think he could be a good signing but not for more than £12m which clearly won't be the case, that is why I hope this deal doesn't happen. Especially after just the one stand out season, I know the Saints fans won't like this but...I'm always wary of one-hit-wonders! Caulker is a plain and simple no from me. I think the only reason Brod would be interested is because of the lads versatility. Plus it fits in with the buying British that FSG were and may still be so keen on.
We could pull Saints apart by signing Shaw, Lallana, Sneiderlin, Rodriguez and Lovren. I wonder how much that would cost and how the FA would react. We could throw in Aspas, Alberto, Assaidi, Toure and maybe Borini (not that I want him to go).
Shaw: £25m Lallana: £20m Sneiderlin: £18m Rodriguez: £15m Lovren: £12m I make that £90m. For them to sell them all they'd want a big premium. £120m+ IMO
