Would anyone take Oscar if the Chavs wanted to get rid? I certainly would if the price is right <ok>

  2. More important issue to sort first so no, I'd stick with Raheem and Coutinho for now <ok>

Ok that's fair enough but if that was an area we needed to improve would you take him for the right price?

  4. If he hadn't been at Chelsea then probably. Because he's been there and I've seen how much he dives then I'd prefer not. However, if we got him I would be happy so long as its the right price.

That's fair enough, he hasn't played for a while has he? So there's a possibility we could get him cheap, plus I think Rodgers would get the best out of him. Shame about the diving though.

  6. Rather take Hazard :bandit:

In reality, we aren't signing anyone from Chelsea bar fringe players maybe. Obviously hope we don't get Moses but we could be in for Bertrand?

I'd rather have Elmo or Cookie monster. Oscar doesn't really seem much of a team player- he hides in that rubbish bin all day.

Na hazard is ****, Moses is better :bandit:

Bertrand is a possibility, he's a good player, if we get him then I hope it's on the cheap side <ok>

  9. Not that fussed on Bertrand. Last summer I would just about been in favour but not this year. With CL football, we should be aiming for bigger and better.

Think we need to spend big on defensive players. We know we have the forwards to score but by toughening up the defence will mean there is less pressure on SASAS to score 3 or 4 every game. Still think we need another quality forward but 2 full backs and a CB ( or one that can play 2 positions like Rojos who we are linked with) and a DM are priority for me

I like Skrtel and Sakho as centre-backs!

I know we've shipped goals this season- but I don't blame that pair. Toure may be past it- but we still have Agger and a couple of youth returning... one more CB might be OK though.

What we need defensively are full backs- and a defensive midfielder. Gerrard is going to be playing in a wheelchair soon- and Lucas doesn't fit Rodger's tactics. Neither Henderson nor Allen are best playing in that deep role- they're best used elsewhere.

We just lack a bit of organisation at the back.

Was interesting listening to Carragher & Neville last night after the game and talking about how deep our defence was after we conceded 1 and how Sakho always seems to want to go backwards rather than forwards (which is odd as he always tries to nick the ball in front of the player). It's little things like that where we miss Carragher, just pushing the defence up 5 yards which pushes the midfield up and then squeezes the opposition to move the ball backwards as there is less space to work in.

Johnson has to go, he was **** at the start, then I was actually backing him when he came back from injury and he looked alright again but last few weeks he's gone back to being poor and was arguably at fault for all 3 goals last night.

Gerrard for all his qualities in that position, isn't a DM. He's a brilliant player and when dominating possession and attacking he's excellent in that role, but when the pressure is on, we need a solid strong DM who can actually win the ball back and break up play. A Lucas of 2 years ago, just getting those interceptions and nicking the ball from players.

Flanagan, Skrtel and Johnson are not good enough to be starters in our defence. Simple as that.

Whilst Agger has been poor, he brings the most leadership to the defence and it's no coincidence that he features the most when we have clean sheets. Skrtel has been praised far too much this season purely because he's the only one who has played most games and scored crucial goals. It's a shame that Sakho and Agger both player as LCB because they should be the partnership, or even Kolo and Sakho.

Sakho wasn't the only one playing deep against Palace, plus he's only 23 and learning a new language. Skrtel should be the one providing the leadership but he needs babysitting - at 29!!

Having said all that, the centre backs need support from full backs who can't close down a cross to save their lives and they need a midfielder in front of them who isn't easily beaten by pace and directness.

The Javi Martinez rumours come from The Guardian who say Arsenal are interested. If he's available, then he MUST go in for him. The perfect DM for our system.

I think to improve our defense we need to improve these two things:

    Defending with the ball.
    Resting on the ball.

You cant concede if you have the ball and move it around well.

We concede mostly in the second half when our players are possibly tiring. If we can just play the ball around patiently better our defensive record will improve.

Gerrard, Flanagan and Sakho are good at this. So is Joe Allen but he is often a sub (who can of course come on). A LB who can do this and another energetic midfielder who can do this will help this so much.

If done well this will work much better than sit back, get aggressive etc etc.

Good news is that Kono and Firminio aren't going to the WC which means their value won't rise significantly - we should do everything to secure their signature quickly.

I think we concede so many goals purely because the players aren't good enough. They make far too many mistakes and invite pressure, and they lack leadership.

I'm not sure if it is leadership or communication. But I do agree on that.

I think the 2 go hand in hand really - Toure was keeping it all together in the early stages but think we sacrificed all that due to a few individual errors. Everyone with hands on hips after a goal is a big tell tale sign that no one knows what they're doing, Carra/Reina would be bollocking someone when they were here.

Javi Martinez will cost £35M+. Would the owners cough up that much on a DM?
