Varane is one of the best (if not THE best) young centrebacks in the world. Would love him but highly unlikely. Players to get rid of - Johnson, Enrique, Lucas. Big earners and injury prone.
i agree.. its time for a natural clear out nobody will notice assaidi and aspas and moses and cissohko going as long as reserves come up. suso, wisdom, ibe and the like are good enough to stand still enrique can't be sold due to his issues but i would buy the lb sit him on the bench and see in january. johnson needs to be run out of town IMO, lucas is gone he cannot run so he is done
I sadly agree on Lucas. He's been a brilliant player for the club for a number of years but he doesn't fit the current squad. He's not a Rodgers style player unfortunately and form/injuries in recent seasons has kept him from his best. Lucas can still do a good job for someone else- but he's not what we need.
I think the problem with Allen is that he has been used at times as a more defensive midfielder. When Rodgers started giving him more of a box-to-box role his performances have improved. I don't think Allen is good enough to be starting every match for Liverpool- but I think he is a useful player to have in the squad- he is a very adaptable midfielder and can be used to fill holes caused by injury and what may be necessary rotation.
I think Lucas is still a decent player but he does not have the pace or mobility to play in a Rodgers system, I agree about getting rid, we could get a decent price for him and im sure Rafa would take him to Napoli if he was available. Johnson is just a shocking defender and I will be glad when he is gone to be honset. Never rated him at any stage, he can't defend. Enrique probably deserves the chance to prove he is not a crock and this season was a one off. I would keep him but we will need another left back anyway.
The players we're being linked with now are seriously exciting. Antoine Griezemann is the latest! Also rumours that Bayern are willing to let Martinez, Goetze and Shaqiri to leave this summer. Javi Martinez - if only we could get him ... what a player and the perfect DM.
Martinez,Shaqiri and plank would be nice lol. anyone know of an update on papodopolis (?) if his injury is still bad, like to see us go for someone like that, him and Sakho with skrts and Agger backup would be ok for me.
Managed four appearances all season. In three of those he was a substitute who came on in the 88th minute or later. The other game he started, but Schalke lost 5-1 to Bayern. He also gave away a penalty for the fifth goal and was sent off So not a great season for him all-in-all.
