Liverpool are chasing the signatures of teen pair Tyler Roberts and Jack Batten as they continue to try and hoover up the best of young British talent. Wales Under-16 captain Roberts is currently with West Bromwich Albion, the same club from which the Reds plucked Jerome Sinclair and who is now one of their most highly-rated academy players. Striker Roberts, 16, would cost Liverpool around £200,000 in compensation as per the guidelines of the Premier League's Elite Player Performance Plan - a fee likely to rile the Baggies who have had the player on their books since the age of nine. 18-year-old Bristol City centre-back Batten could be available for as little as £75,000 under EPPP. But the Reds have missed out on 15-year-old Hungarian wonderkid Matyas Tajti who has signed instead for Barcelona. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...e-teen-starlets-anfield-3446550#ixzz2zihnE9g2 Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook
I'm sure I read somewhere recently that Murial has scored 4 goals in 20+ games this season? For a striker, that is ****. I know there is a lot of hype about him, but is he really that good?
Reus is a beaut of a player. But frankly we don't need to splash upwards of 30m for the position we're strongest in. Also, Reus deserves first-team play - does Sterling or Sturridge become second fiddle then? Shaqiri or Konoplyanka on the other hand would probably start from the bench and cost significantly less.
I watch all Bundesliga games (gf is German). Reus plays best and mostly as a wide left forward, injuries etc has meant he has moved centrally a bit. Isn't that the point though, rotation or Sterling and Reus on the wings for example? Shaqiri is a very reasonable target imo and we all think Konoplyanka is a cert. Just not sure on what box to box midfielder we are hopefully looking for.
We should focus our resources on strengthening our defence, and Reus would take a huge bite of our transfer kitty. In keeping with that line of thought, I would only go for one of Kono or Shaqiri. Then, I would splash out in defence and CM.
Di Marzio reported that Shaqiri has been offered to Juventus. We really need to get on this - fantastic little player. Livtor - I agree to some extent. Central midfield and defence need boosting as priority - but we must also strengthen our attack. An injury to Suarez, Sterling or Sturridge could be a blow. Even though we won and still scored 3 goals against Norwich, I felt we lacked a target, someone who could hold the play up.
Not just injuries, but squad roatation and bringing someone off the bench to change the game, which we don't have at the moment.
Still not overly impressed with him tbh. I think he needs to stay with Derby if they come up, or move to a Swansea or Villa.
Looks decent but imo nowhere near ready for our first team. I think he would be another pointless signing like Alberto was and would end up in the u21s or loaned out.
I'm not saying he should be priority, but I can see us taking the chance to sign him. There'll be competition and his price is likely only to rise.
I'm the same way... I hate it when he gets time off the bench... he doesn't deserve it. He's not good enough and looks kinda lazy on the field. His effort is nowhere near what the other players put in. I forgive players like Borini, who last year looked out of place in our squad- but at least he was working really hard and put tonnes of effort in. Moses is crap and lazy. He won't be with us next year anyway though- Mourinho will loan him off to someone else. So we need a replacement regardless. I want to see more of Texiera next season.
