You don't know for sure. If they have done all the scouting on the young fella and he ticks all their boxes, they could be prepared to pay the value.
Well, as nobody is sure what FSG would do in this case, then the question boomerangs to us fans. Suppose we have a 60-70m summer transfer kitty. Suppose Everton don't go lower that 38m. Would you then prefer FSG to buy him for that amount?
I'd prefer us to have a value and stick to it. If we value Barkley lower then Everton then the deal doesn't happen. I like that we refuse to pay over the odds for individuals, not only is there a short term financial benefit but also a long term physiological benefit too, it tells clubs, players & agents that we won't be pushed around.
i get why we might be interested, but the starting point of £38 mill is laughable. go in £25 mill to test the waters, might get a **** off right back at us but is there room for negotiation or is it pointless ie £30 mill £32 etc also see if the player wants to move. has he made any comments on the speculation? i know he doesn't need to, but be interesting to see the response if he has been asked.
i think it would be f'n hilariuos to see tobes reaction to the news that lfc players tap the guy up at the WC... oh i'm sure it'd be fine if rooney did that for utd but... not gerrard.. satan himself tempting the poor innocent lad. i'd buy tickets to the rant
I agree... Gerrard needs to nudge Barkley a few times and go... "psssst. put in a transfer request"... "pssst. threaten to let your contract run out"... "psssst. pee in Martinez's coffee".... "pssst how about a threesome with John Terry's gal."
West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame claims Liverpool want to sign him. Diame has helped the Hammers move up to 11th in the table, with Sam Allardyce's side appearing safe from relegation now. But the Senegal international has raised the possibility of quitting Upton Park this summer by claiming he wants to join a 'top-six' side. "Two years ago [before joining West Ham from Wigan] I wanted to join a team with ambitions," said Diame. "Overall, my season has been okay, although I think it is not up to last season. I started badly, but gradually I got my bearings. "Liverpool? I can't tell you if I will be a Liverpool player next season. But I think my name is still on their wanted list. "I don't hide it, I'm ambitious and I want to join a top-six side. I am 26 years old and it's time to take that step." Diame was the subject of an offer from Fulham in January, but West Ham rejected their £7.5million double bid for him and Ravel Morrison. Arsenal were also thought to be tracking Diame last season, however their reported interest never materialised into a bid. The 26-year-old has struggled to shine this campaign, scoring four goals in 36 appearances. Valencia are challenging Arsenal and Liverpool to land Paris Saint-Germain starlet Lucas Digne on loan this summer. Both Premier League giants were in pursuit of the talented left-back before he completed a £13million move from Lille to PSG at the end of last season. He has found first-team opportunities difficult to come by this year, though - he has managed only 12 league starts and just two in the Champions League. PSG are understandably keen to retain him, given his potential, while the 20-year-old last month admitted that he has no plans to leave the French capital for good this year. La Liga side Valencia, however, are waiting in the wings to sign him on loan - and PSG could sanction a temporary move away from the club. Reports are surfacing that reigning Serie A champions Juventus could be set to rival Borussia Monchengladbach and Premier League club Liverpool for the signature of Young Boys' Swiss hotshot Michael Frey. After making his Swiss Super League debut during the 2012-13 season the 19-year-old has continued to impress scouts throughout Europe and this summer could be the moment he departs his homeland for pastures new. According to Tuttomercatoweb the German Bundesliga club had been first to show an interest in the youngster, but it now appears that the Bianconeri could also make a move for the promising young talent. Despite making just six league starts for his club last term Frey made a further 20 appearances from the substitute bench and struck five goals in the process, and was eventually capped at Under-21 level for Switzerland.
Diame sounds immature and has a head full of paper talk. frankly i'd not touch with a barge pole digne is unlikely, again unless psg go bust they drive too hard a bargain and half the links are player just signed frey....could be good.. who knows...
Would rather Van Der Wiel than Digne from PSG. Wouldn't mind one of the Dortmund fullbacks either, Piszcek or Marcel ( can't remember the last name).
yes any of those would be good buys. i have to think that we'll see changes in this area. johnson makes little sense bar cl next year in sme minds so flanagan and wisdom would be his cover unless we buy, surely one lb at least will arrive.
Hopefully he is looking at teams who are of a similar ilk so the player can slot in pretty easy. Hopefully we see a healthy JE too.
i think enrique will be under pressure to have a slot. i think rodgers will brig in his own man, and will want powerfull running plus ability to pass
Wouldn't mind Nagatomo from Inter, very Zabaleta like in his play. Cuardado from Fiorentina is a yougn exciting prospect but not sure he is the greatest defending, awesome going forward though.
FootballFacts101‏@FootballFact101·1 min Manchester United are offering Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos £260,000 a week to join the Premier League club. [Guardian] If true, and I know City and PSG are helping with this ( same with Chelsea) **** me this is getting to be silly money!!!
Bit desperate tbh, he isn't interested about going to United so instead they just throw money at them ( just like the Chavs and $ity)
