They've already started, and we haven't even signed him yet. This was posted yesterday, can't remember who by. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-out-of-the-frying-pan-and-into-the-fire.html
#bbcsalford has already got their Suarez v Balotelli controversy comparison up too http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28881434
Article by Chris Bascombe. He used to write for the Liverpool Echo, so he should know better than to write such speculative, sensationalist tripe. Or maybe not. He also ghost wrote Carra's autobiography, apparently. That being said, he did move from the Echo to the ***'s sister paper the TNOTW emoticon-0119-puke, so he has previous for being a ****! Goes to show, though, all newspapers are tabloids these days, some just have (marginally) better spelling and grammar than others.
Think Lucas will be off but think I would prefer Vidal ( might be more of a probable buy since his future is a bit more in the air?).
Not when you take wages into account - Shaw is on 130k (I think?) a week - whereas I should imagine Lallana is on about 90K (not sure 100% sure though).
I'd call it ****ing insane personally - add the wages to it and they're ****ing mental over at old trafford. Wonder what they've been smoking?
I personally think he's the right player for us - in the past we've missed our targets by trying to knock 1mil off the price, yeah he's expensive - but at least he was a target and we didn't **** around waiting for someone else to snap him up and just went for it. If we were messing around over valuation and for example Spurs signed him - we'd all be bashing Ayres, for not landing our targets. It boils down to the fact we paid over the odds for some players but got other players on the cheap, so it balances itself out - at least Ayre has shown he's capable of getting our targets
I have nothing against Lallana per se, I think he may well be a good fit for us, and I thought several time last season that I wouldn't mind him in a Liverpool shirt. But he was never going to come cheap, and it just seems a bit hypocritical to laugh at Man U for throwing a wad of cash at Shaw when we did the same for Lallana! That's banter for you though, I guess. This window's definately been a bit different to January though! (Cue Ayre sitting in the Ukraine at midnight on August 31...)
It's not just banter though. Lallana was identified as having the specific qualities (pressing, interceptions, goals) backed up by statistical analysis and extensive scouting that we wanted. So we spent a lot because we are as sure as we can be that he will suit our system. Shaw was signed when they didn't even have a ****ing manager but he was flavour of the month. Manager rocks up and says "who's fat baby is that in the corner? He's our new WHAT!?!?! Nah lads at least get me this Rojo instead"* *not quoting verbatim here
I for one am glad we finally have owners that fully back the manager for his targets and a CE that can actually get deals done. It was not too long ago that we had G&H scrimping and Purslowe (and the useless Parry before him) getting deals done (or not as the case may be). FSG have fully supported BR and Kenny to get the targets they want. We might disagree with who the manager signs but thank god he has the impunity to get who he deems best for the squad. I look forward to turning into an incoherent and irrational rage-monkey and shouting "FSG and BR out" as soon as these signings backfire or are unable to obtain my lofty expectations for my beloved Pool. Oh to be a football fan.
I'd put it down as Shaw being a "brand" signing... he's English and getting a lot of media attention. Its not about the football it's about branding. Once Van Gaal saw that Shaw isn't first team material he had to find a real player.
