Thank feck fer that lol. Here's a question for you all (or a couple) Scenario 1, We chase but fail to get either Falcao and Ballotelli, bring in eto or similar and come a close 5th. Is BRs job at risk? Scenario 2, we spend 65 million on Falcao, we come a close 5th. Is BR's job at risk?
Not sure - it's so tough to finish top 4 right now and I can't think who I'd want to replace BR if we just missed out, and I certainly don't want to just sack managers constantly. I may feel differently as it's actually happening but in both scenarios I'd be of the 'we go again' opinion
I don't think Rodgers job would be gone under either scenario. But it depends on who finishes 4th. If it is Everton after spending a lot less- questions will be asked. If Man Utd spend a bazillion £ and bring in all the talent they want and beat us to 4th- I think the board will understand that. I can't imagine Rodgers being sacked for 5th- not after last year, but we may need to sell players. A 5th place would put him on shakey ground for the 2015/16 season though. We could sign Reus, Falcao and Shaqiri and finish 5th- we might get angry at Rodgers... but what could we do. Would there even be better managers who would come to us if we finished 5th. Big gamble- or stick with the man who got 2nd the season before. I think we'd have to do a lot worse than 5th for Rodgers to be shown the door.
Nope. Although 5th wouldn't be great, Rodgers has shown enough in his 2 years to warrant a chance to improve things. Think we all know it's going to be hard without Suarez, £100m spend or not. Despite all his oddities about 7 1/2 position etc, he's a manager that's got us playing some of the best football I've seen the club play. Who would we realistically replace him with that would do better? I'd much rather a young progressive British manager who is willing to use local and home grown talent if good enough, than a big name manager who comes in and wants to spend £70m each year and never try the youth.
I'd agree personally with both of you. I suppose if the gap was wide it would be different. Then it would be a test of how "collective" transfer targets are arrived at. But hey, we have to get Falcao first lol Edit: 3 of you lol.
would jizz if we brought him in.
Haven't they got the next next C.Ronaldo on their books to? #zaha Although more expensive that why, it represents less risk. If we bought him outright now for £40m and he doesn't work out, we'd stand to lose £20m+. Paying the loan fee allows us to test the waters first, if it works we buy and alls good. If it doesn't then we've only lost about £12m (only ) rather than £20m. 1: no 2: no
Looking at youtube (the font of all knowledge) safe to say he could replace Suarez in terms of the excitement he gave us. None of his goals are scrappy tap-ins thats for sure!
This was sort of suggested by MITO a couple of weeks back and Tobes said getting second last season as bought Brod eighteen months
That's right, I'm going bloody senile as I actually got him to say that he'd have grudging respect for him if he got top 4 again this year..... Back to Indy for me then!
I said I can see a scenario where he could get sacked but...... I can see 9/10 prem managers being sacked anyway so who knows

Covering all 3 situations, a loan, a perm transfer, or nothing. That way can claim to be right no matter what happens
