anyway... unless southampton are mad they'll sell shaw for a fortune cos lets face it left fulls are not centre forwards no matter how good. that 25mil will pay off the transfer bill but the TV money SHOULD be paying for their grounds improvement and such. it really should.
If they are "really" desperate to sell and need the cash, then yes, we may get a £25M player a few million cheaper but I doubt that they'll want to weaken any poor financial state they may be in by taking less than the market value for their prized assets. Wouldn't be surprised if there are bidding wars for the likes of Shaw, Lovern, Lallana, Rodriguez, selling those players alone should see them clear close to 60M..
Yes you are right. I think there might be a domino effect there with the manager and players that if one goes then the next one out might trigger a big clear out. The board has to stand strong bascially. Shaw is unholdable, I meanyeah an 18 year old should stay and learn a bit more to be really ready for the big teams but if 25 mil is on the table for a left full... nobody would not do it... but if lallana goes then.. do other players start wanting out... who knows. they talk like its all fine but who knows as a lay person.
Inter Milan are hopeful of bringing in Chelsea's Fernando Torres, but feel the £5m price tag for the 30-year-old striker is "oversized". Full story: Tuttosport (in Italian) Oh How the mighty have fallen!
Actually think that league is the best place for him to go. Think he would find some form again there.
I wouldn't mind Lovren on the basis we will get rid of Toure. That would give us Sakho, Skerts, Agger and Lovren as our main 4 CB's with Wisdom & Kelly able to fill in if we have an injury crisis in that position. If you go on the Southampton board most of them really rate Lovren.
I didn't see anything that made me think Boateng was anything special when he was at City, however I haven't seen much of him since. Bertrand for LB! I may have mentioned this before.
Boateng was struggling with his career until this season and was told he would have to leave Bayern. But he stayed and it seems to have revolutionised him. Apparently he is having a brilliant season and is a key member of the team.
Lads lads lads, we've practically qualified for CL, pushing close for the title, promoting youth and aggressive football - we are now a very attractive club. The calibre of player we should be signing and can now ATTRACT has raised tenfold. We were targeting players like Willian, Costa and Mkhitaryan without CL - these are definitely what we should be aiming for but the difference is that we can now attract them. Lallana is a decent player, shining at a mid table club. Players like Carroll, Adam and Downing all spring to mind - now, Lallana is better than all 3 but the point still stands. And we must also remember - the lad will be 27 this year. He's no youngster, he's a seasoned professional who is playing at Soton and had 1 good season. For the price that Soton will ask for, we can find much better options out there. Konoplyanka, Shaqiri and Firmino all spring to mind as players who all are younger and quite frankly, better. Same applies to Micah Richards, Ryan Bertrand, Lallana, Jay Rodriguez - if we signed them when Rodgers first took over, in that circumstance then that is fine.
Shaqiri, now thats a player I think we can get and hope we can get fast. Strong, fast, young and can play in a variety of positions. I agree with you though, top talent should be the target. Utd are getting linked to a lot of players, but with no champions league, David Moyes in charge and playing a very very poor football style, why couldn't we beat them to signings? The likes of Kroos and Gundogan, we could be in for these too.
Unfortunately, Kroos has signed a new contract at Bayern Gundogan, Lars Bender, M'Vila would be fantastic CM/DM options. Shaqiri would be a major coup!!
Unfair to put Bertrand in there, he's a young lad looking to break into a first team with loads of potential.
Hopefully not, hes shocking at defending in the Spanish league so id imagine he would be worse in the prem.
No to Coentrao and Marcelo. Very attack minded defenders but poor defensively IMO, and I wouldn't be spending that much on them. William Carvalho will be a top player in the future - 37m is seriously a massive amount for a youngster.
