I'm warming to the Bony idea more and more to be honest, and if rumours are to be believed it sounds like he would love to play for us
well think about it this way... a lot of lads would love to but who's good enough... i can prob mention 5/6 lads we've bought who'd love to etc who are awful. I mean we just got shut of aspas who jumped at the chance. jones was life long fan and so forth.
We simply must get another striker. It's key to the season. We've strengthened everywhere else adequately imo (although a class midfielder wouldn't go amiss), but if Sturridge (god forbid) is out for a month or two, Lambert is the only striker we have to fill in. that's simply not good enough, especially at the business end of the season
Comparing Bony to Aspas is just outrageous though - two completely different levels here. Bony is a goal every other game player with a declining premiership side, he does have the potential to take his chance with us and become a top player.
yeah but.... if you are trying to win the league and bony and an aspas are basically both off the pace, one a lot more than the other yes but if we are about winning its a much of a muchness. Thus far nobody has shown how bony would fit into rodgers style... lets leave systems aside but rodgers says he's a style... everyone else has pace, technicality and goes towards goals... this guy is not quick, has a good shot on him but not exaclty a world beater techncially either. If lambert was not at the club and say rodgers bought a 40mil striker and bony as a plan b fine ok... but we are talking bony potentially as a main line striker here if sturrdige picks up any injury... In fairness to the club it didn't strategically plan for suarez to savage an opponenet again and have to get rid so they have been shopping round rather than off a strict best plan list (thus remy) BUT.... bony seems the last of the last options to me.
I agree but i added it could get rodgers the sack... just to be controverisal. I think sturridge could be out for 3 months with an ankle injury (mystic meg here) at some time in the period so I think rodgers is acutely aware his success is tied up in this next buy. Get a good un and I think he'll challenge for a few things.. fail and there are scenarios where people won't be happy. I'll keep saying it anyway... we might get lucky and have no injuries but hope is not a plan...
I didn't think he was that slow? Clips I've seen of him show a decent enough technique....Not in Suarez's league but few are. He will give us a physical presence akin to Suarez though and definitely has an eye for goal. He wouldn't be too shabby a signing at the right price imo.
Bony is a very skilful player MITO, some of his assists are class and he can do a player too - not too fussed about pace, we have sterling, markovic, sturridge, coutinho, lallana and henderson who are all quick - Bony is the guy who drops back to the penalty spot receives the ball and scores! Not saying he is some world beater but he certainly wouldn't be a depressing signing, I think he'd do really well for us.
I really cant see why there is so much negativity regarding Bony. The guy scored 20 goals last season in an average Swsnsea team He was crocked for several games too so thats not a bad tally. If he scored 20 for us I would be pleased.
not that slow and decent enough is the issue. there's lots of guys who are the same... mind you if borini is a 14mil player and shane long is now a 12 mil player perhaps boney is a 20mil player.... I dunno... but again how does he fit the style? If he going to press like suarez for 90 mins or ge ton the shoulder of the last man and stretch it or really is he looking to take it in and pass it off? my ideal here is bags of pace, good technique and playing off the shoulder... in actual fact if i am honest i woudl say 3 players epitomise what i'd look for. a YOUNG robbie fowler A fit and young fernando torres or even a young michael owen now none of the above were sparkling technicians on the ball. in fact a young flower might have been described as better off not touching it and owen's idea of control was kicking ti 5 yards away from an opponent then chase it. BUT they all finished a high proportion of chances.. as in i'd say most good chances. I do not see a player like these out there right now really.
You've had a mare there. Comparing Aspas - who did precisely **** all in the EPL to Bony, is like sticking Altidore and Lukaku in the same envelope. Bony is a 1 in 2 striker - and has done so in the EPL, so he's proven. He's far from slow and technically he's very good - are you sure you've seen him play? He was one of the best visiting striker I saw at Goodison last season, gave our backline a torrid afternoon. He's a very good player.
may i offer in repost poor old dirk kuyt.. now i'm not saying bony is that slow but when a markovic or coutinho makes a chance and a guy is in a foot race in behind and a defender can catch him easy its a problem. I'd also off that as long as he's not a false 9 who runs away from the penalty area.
Are there even any new rumours about Bony? Last I heard we'd been put off by his price and wages. For the record, I'd be satisfied (not overjoyed) by Bony. Think he's a good player, just not world class. I can certainly think of worse options, and I'd rather see him come on than Lambert, especially at the moment.
The last story I saw, said that he was Rodgers first choice, but the 'committee' at Anfield had decided his fee was too strong and they were looking for alternatives - which might make sense given the subsequent link to Eto'o.
Well Michu and Benteke had great breakthrough seasons then went off the boil. To think the swans wanted £25m for Michu
Twatter claims that Eto'o has rejected our initial offer... Claimed Everton are also interested... If we can get Boney'M for the price we're getting for Fabio (should that deal go through), then I'll be up for that! Will all the Bony neigh-sayers think differently should he tear Utd a new one on Saturday?
I can't see you getting Bony for anything less than his £19m buyout clause tbh. To me in todays mental market, if Borini does go for £14m and Shane Long for £12m (what the ****! ) then Bony is worth £19m all day long.
Bony is certainly faster and a better finisher than Suarez. Suarez is a much better all round player though (obviously)
Kevin Phillips always scored goals at lower league clubs, doesn't mean he was ever good enough for a top side
