Eto'o would be a large payment to him as a signing on fee plus high wages. Wickham probably around £7m plus 50k a week. The former is very experienced and proven, but getting on a bit. The latter is young and has never really achieved what he promised early in his career, but we create a lot of chances. The third choice is Bob Latchford, just so Tobes has someone to pick
In his dreams. Coutinho is on about that! Wickham at his age and what he's achieved should be on no more than 20k a week max! At the moment he's a Championship player / average lower Prem league player.
In this imaginary scenario he has the worlds best agent, who until recently was Jimmy Savilles PR man!
So in reality we need to give him a new contract and up his wages - last thing we want is his head being turned by a rich club coming in offering him 100k+ a week. To be fair he's worth that a week, especially to all the mega rich clubs.
I thought we had started negotiations with Coutinho to extend his contract, must be worth 80/90k a week by now.
We've offered him a new deal, think Rodgers confirmed before or just after the Dortmund game, trying to tie him down to a longer contract. Can't see him wanting to move, he seems a sensible lad and knows that we've given him the platform to perform after going stale at Inter and sticking with us in a year or 2, he'll have played at the top level and be a Brazilian regular.
equally its a measure of him... sign and compete with others and make yourself number one pick... don't sign and run to easier club.... i hope he measures up for the fight
Agreed Being the 'brain' of the team, will continue his development. He'd be mad to move. Like you said he seems like a sensible lad that just wants to play football - later in his career he'll know he'll earn his money. At present he seems happy and certainly not money motivated.
Coutinho might well move on, but he'd be a fool to do so now. No club which would be considered a step up from us (currently) would give him anywhere near as much play time. Few more years here at least to see if we can keep on progressing as he does. Any sensible, young player would do the same...the stupid ones all run to Chavski/City/Madrid
he's got a lot of development ahead. i am on record as saying now suarez has gone he is the one plyer to look to. markovic and sterling are different types. but. 1. stamina is a big issue to look to, can he give a full 90? 2. consistency in being in the game and not drift in and out. so as a young player we must hope he steps up from last season and shows us more.... can't wait to see what happens
I think this year Countinho will shine. I think Suarez leaving will benefit him, I sometimes felt he looked a bit scared when Suarez was playing, especially when Suarez had a moan at him. It seemed to put him on a downer and he'd occasionally go missing in games. He'll feel a lot more relaxed this season - I think he'll be our stand out player this season personally. He has phenomenal talent, and this year will turn him into a star.
Well been good in the past with Sunderland news, but now it involves a Liverpool player, will be the true test
So we got Moreno so we have strengthened the back four..... good. But Rodgers still mentioned more....... got to Bony. I know many don't like it but I can see it.
