Nothing to do with his transfer price I'd imagine, tbh I'm sure you'd flog him for 10-15mil if you whored him about, the issue I suspect would be his gigantic salary expectations? Which may be why he's quite content to sit on his arse for you all season and why no one's bothered approaching
I know. its ****ing nuts! We gave him a five and a half year contract too Some awesome ****ing business there
Thing is, the way Torres has played the last few years surely no big club would be interested in him, but I doubt he would be prepared to lower his sights, and his wage demands, to play for a decent mid-table club. I'm sure that, in his own head, Torres is still one of the world's top strikers and would expect to be seen as and paid as such. So I think Chelsea are stuck with him until such time as he realises he's never going to hit the heights he once enjoyed, swallows his pride and goes somewhere where he can do a decent job and perhaps start enjoying his football again.
Carra was on the Anfield Wrap podcast a few days ago and said no one was bothered when Torres left and they were more shocked about the £50m fee because they knew he'd been on the way down for ages. Alonso leaving was far more disheartening because he had been happy and the heart of the team.

We doubled up on Torres and invested that money in Suarez, who we trebled up on. Even considering the pikey, it was ultimately good business in the end.
With hindsight you can see he'd lost it before he left us. At the time it appeared like a temporary loss of form due to any number of factors. It's a shame, I can't remember any other player fall from grace quite so spectacularly, I actually feel sorry for the man now. Went to Womad. Was good, but would have been better if it wasn't for my gammy foot. I was more or less condemned to sitting in the same area all weekend.
Carroll and Suarez in - £62m Carroll and Suarez out - £90m An epic loss and a giant profit combined.
Perhaps my old memory is deceiving me, but I seem to recall we were in for Gnasher regardless of the Torres deal?
We were in for him before the whole Torres thing became public, which was basically the last or penultimate day of the transfer window. Chelea's initial bid was before that though, and Suarez's arrival wasn't confirmed until the Torres deal was virtually confirmed. Who knows what was already known or being dicussed before it became public? In that window, we sold Torres an Babel for about the same price as we signed Suarez and Carroll, indicating that we basically matched inflows to outflows. That's how I remember it at least.
He could easily lead the line still for a top mid table club - southampton revamped? But he will be on minimum 150kpw at the moment, so he would need to slice his salary to at least half that to get nabbed by any club
Thats about right as far as I remember. Though I seem to remember you signing Suarez BEFORE we got Torres. Because Suarez said in his opening interview how he looked forward to playing with Torres I seem to remember, then a week later Torres was gone Torres and Babel = £58m Suarez and Carroll = £57.6m I think
I'm fairly certain we waited to confirm the Suarez signing until the evening of the last day, and Torres and Carroll were confirmed later that night. There was a long delay before confirming the Suarez signing; he had his medical a couple of days earlier. Haven't researched it to check though.
