Assuming top 4 at the moment reach the CL. Of the non CL club players I'd target are:

Shaw
Schneiderlin
Eriksen
Barkley
Mata :bandit:
Possibly Sandro as well

I agree that lallana would probably cost too much and maybe suso could do a job ( although unproven whereas lallana has shown he can ) but you asked was he better than what we have and the answer is yes.

I meant to first team but fair enough.

Agree to disagree on the rest. Buy a quality player for the first team and the squad takes care of itself.

Rogers has said he doesn't want to stock pile players and only wants players who can come straight into the first team. Of course CL would improve the quality of players available to us . That's what makes our lack of success in the transfer window so disappointing. I'm not saying we won't get CL with current squad but a DM and fB would have made it a bit easier.

Absolutely and lallana is quality. In fact if he was available at £15 m then I would rather have him than salah or kono.

I don't know anything about those two foreigners so can't really comment. I think Coutinho is a better option than Lallana though. Plus, at 26 and English, he'll cost far too much for what we'd get.
 
Assuming we're going to stick with three up top and Coutinho in behind as our go-to formation, we need two midfielders of genuine quality to sit in behind them. Gerrard will be rotated (should be) with them and Hendo too, as good as he has been, since I don't think he's anywhere close to ready for CL football yet - if we get there. The likes of Banega, M'Villa and Fernando are what we need, not some over priced English players.
 
I'd buy coleman and barkley from everton. they are IMO top 4 players, i.e very good prem players... barkely could be a top top top top player in 2- years.

Utd? I'd not bother, mata clearly is small time having chosen to do what he did......

Shaw is a guy ready to make a step up maybe, if he chooses cheslea he could get lost in the crowd. another good option.

then we need one top top midfielder... and one top attacker.

i'd say to go buy fernando by outbidding citeh ;) and then costa too... you may as well be linked to these guys if they are going to big clubs anyway.

pretned to make a late 100mil bid for barkley, fake bid 40mil for fernando... etc etc.

then go buy the lesser known ukranian warbler if you like.
 
I would love us to get colman and berkley but cant see everton selling to us.

Shaw is also a good shout but as others have said cfc will probably beat us to him.

My main hope for the window is we add a few quality plauers rather than a raft of unknowns that dont cut it. No problem with us taking a gamble but we need to add real quality in the summer not just potential.

Wont help that the lad grew up a Chav and a Chav fan. Plus come the summer Chelsea will be looking for a new left back, Cole is past it and the others aren't naturally left sided, its a guaranteed starting place for him in a team that is likely joint favourites for the title next year.
With us he would likely be first choice, but Enrique would be a challenge to him.

Would like Shaw, but if Chavs come in (big rumours they will) don't think we'll stand much chance.
 
then stop even thinking of the chav. let shaw go to the chavs and test bertrand's attitude. is he a winner or a whiner? won't rule out move to villa? then he's small time.

I am joking about coleman and barkley.

Think he plays for Dortmund? Unless that's his brother, Sven Bender. Not sure really, both good players but I think Sven is the better player? Not 100% sure though.
