Just got up and thought I would have a quick look at this before work. All I can now say is thanks Tobes, at least I'm going to work with a smile on my face...... PS... I have to pass a B&Q on the way to work.....do you want me to pick you a new shovel up, as you must have worn the other one out trying to dig yourself out of the hole last night.
Haha just read the past few pages - good to see Tobes get owned. Bertrand rumours were picking up last night again - I still feel the Moreno deal will happen.
Well apparently we were close to signing him in January, but Chelsea refused to because of how we were treating Moses. And now Mourinho is reluctant to sell to us because we are genuine rivals. So Moses did have a positive contribution after all.
its a meh.. the lad went to villa he should have come in january. I really have no strong feelings other than that. If a player misses the boat like konoplyanka its tough on them in my view.
He's a below average. The attack needed strength in depth so I can see the logic in signing average/cheap players like Lambert and Remy. But our defence needs first team quality. Bertrand is average who isn't even good enough for Villa.
i dunno. he did ok as a kid but then expectations on a kid who did after all play the cl final... well those expectations may not be as high as for a first team regular. I don't know. Below average seems harsh right now but you could be right in the end. especially as i call allen average...
few seasons ago i knew of a lot of chelsea fans who were bigging him up and saying he was one for the future, i havent seen a lot of him, but what went wrong? attitude,ie thinking he had made it and didn't put the effort in, showed signs when young but failed to live up to hype like a lot of youngsters end up like?
don't know genuinely. He has ashley cole ahead of him for one however he is 24 now... going to be 25 in august!!! it was 2012 he made his chelsea break through after a series of loans to sides in the championship like forest and norwich. then when rafa came in and cole got injured he played a while and played the europa games and such. It seems to me mourinho just doesn't rate him at all and played the RB with the funny anme instead of the guy and then he was sent of loan. really if he came through under AVB then got knocked back and then di matteo picked him... then rafa came in and picked him.. then mourinho came in and blanked him. Well managerial instability and competition might mean its not attitude par se or work ethic but lack of stability. you would have to feel that if rodgers knows him from the youths (and how would he given the amount of loans but how and ever) and feels if he gets him cheap he could work out great then fine. I just don't know one way or the other.
I think some of you are being pretty harsh on Bertrand. Its true he has fallen short of the expectations of some, but really he has been in and out the side like a jack in the box. He has had several different managers, as mentioned, AVB, RDM, Benitez, Jose, and this is in the last 3 seasons!! We have loaned him off to every tom, dick and harry who will have him, is it any wonder he hasn't been able to find any sort of flow in his play, constantly upheaved and sent to another club every 6 to 12 months. Unable to get any sort of long term link up play with team mates before he is ripped away and sent off somewhere else. Maybe a long and stable stint in the same first XI is exactly what he needs. Sturridge suffered the same **** when he was with us, and look how he turned out when you signed him! Rodgers worked with the kid at youth level so I think he has seen something in him that he is willing to shell out for
how much though for a failed 24 year old 6mil? thoguh to me hes been on lots of young loans then in 2012 he stayed with you until mourinho shoveled him out. do you think he's any good though mind.
He has had some great performances for us, most notably the CL final where he was played as a left winger. But he has been inconsistent, probably because he has been played out of position, and hasnt had a decent run of games. The one time he did have a run, his performances were very good, we were touting him as the next Ashley Cole. But then loan spell after loan spell broke his run and he is back to square one....I honestly think he can come good if given a run in a stable XI and played in the right position. I wouldnt call him failed, at 24 he could have 10 years of top level football left, so plenty of time for him to prove himself.
Bertrand..... Oh dear god. This summer reminds me of the last time we signed average premier league players. That time they were named Carroll, Adam and Downing...
Looks like Borini's move is (even more) in jeopardy... massive facepalm , and Agger continues our own goal tradition from last season... massive massive facepalm http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28459129 Fabio Borini: Liverpool striker injures shoulder in Roma defeat Striker Fabio Borini suffered a shoulder injury as Liverpool lost to Roma in a pre-season friendly. Borini, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, went off in the first half. A fee of £14m had been agreed for his permanent return to Wearside, but that move could now be in doubt. Former England international Ashley Cole made his debut for the Italian club at Fenway Park stadium in Boston. A late own goal from Daniel Agger clinched a 1-0 victory for Roma.
not according to the club though.. the club have assessed and say its just bruising and he will just miss a few days training. the reality is the f'r shouldn't be on tour and he and kolo toure should be told to move and move now.

Land Reus and Vidal and you would be serious title contenders again this season. As it stands given you haven't replaced Suarez quality yet I'd say you'd be fighting for 4th place.
