Enrique, when fit, is one of the best full backs in the league. Quick, strong, good on the ball. Very good defensively and is good in attack as well. Flanagan seems to be getting some stick fro some people which I don't understand. I've always said he's not good enough to be 1st choice however he has become a very solid player, and certainly one that we should keep hold of. he's only 20 or 21 I think so still very young. The improvement he's shown fro when he was last in the team is huge and if he keeps on improving we could have a very solid full back who is capable of holding his own. His passing and support play is now very good. He's never going to overlap and put in loads of crosses but we don't play that way but when he has the ball he more often than not finds one of our players with a forward pass.
In the end guys the prof of the pudding is in the eating..... I personally think City have average full backs and Chelsea this year are non existent BUT do not confuse this with out lot "being good enough" In short put our lot into the cl and we'll see! The English league is now about what 3rd best? I for one think if our lot ain't even top 4 here there must be a hell of a lot better options out there and when they are signed you'll be raving about them too
He is ok but let's be fair city ain't competing with hull, compare to the cl top table and a player like him isn't in any way stellar is he?
If we are suddenly jumping from hoping to challenge for top four to trying to win the CL then sure, they're not good enough (yet in Flanno's case). However, a bit of realism wouldn't go amiss. IMO Enrique is one of the best LBs in the league and the only guy I'd put clearly ahead of him is Baines. Shaw, Evra and Cole are obviously good shouts but thats down to opinion. Flanno is young and we could have better right now which is why I said we need a FB.
http://www.givemesport.com/434860-liverpool-ace-may-leave-anfield-without-playing-a-match Spanish side Granada are plotting an audacious move to bring Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori to the club on a permanent basis.
wouldn't take too much notice of that, for a start they say this "When the end of the summer comes we'll see IF he is wanted by the Liverpool first team (no reason to suggest he isnt to my knowledge) or if they want to sell or loan him." also "According to the Daily Mail" "Spanish side Granada are plotting an audacious move to bring Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori to the club on a permanent basis." funny way to start the article, then it says if he is wanted by liverpool lol
Well, they would have to offer a good return on the £7m we paid for him to stand a chance but I think this is a no going. Guess it comes down to the player and Brod's judgement having seen him in training.
I hope to see him back next year fighting for his place! Only seen a few bits of him since his loan, but he does look a great prospect calm on the ball fantastic distribution. Could be interesting. Think Toure and one of Agger, Skertl will move in the summer. So we should have room for him
This stinks of Felliani and Baines again; offering an amount that most would consider to be a more suitable figure for one but suggesting two players. It is widely seen as Shaw will cost £20m+, Lallana for £10m...? I think those two would be a very good move for Man Utd but can't see Southampton letting them both go
A mate of mine is from Southampton and has ties with the club, he says they have a strong interest in Suso?? Might be able to use him as a make weight in a deal. I would imagine there are a few going out of old Trafford that they could offer Soton also though
Do you mean for Lallana or Shaw? I like Lallana but I'd rather keep Suso TBH, the immediate upgrade wouldn't be worth the spend and I believe Suso will become better than Adam too. Can't see Shaw joining anyone other than Chelsea but would truly love us to get him. I like Enrique and rate him very highly but Shaw is very young, already one of the best in the league and will only get better. He would be around for the next decade, can defend and attack and is English to boot too.
Zabaleta and Ivanovic are top class players. Ivanovic in particular has added so much to his game in the attacking sense recently. EDIT: It's encouraging that teams want to take our loanees again or on a permanent deal... a far cry from the likes of Nabil El Zhar.
Ivanovic is a great shout that will cause debate. He is a very good reliable defender that will never let you down and is consistent too. However, he is not a great attacking FB although he is able to offer a threat at set-pieces. I think this is like a Arbeloa vs Johnson debate; when both on form, who would you have?
Rumour one The Reds are lining up a shock move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. Spanish newspaper Marca reveals Liverpool have made an enquiry about the French international's availability, with Brendan Rodgers wanting to pair him with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. The club would face competition from both Arsenal and Manchester City, however. Source: Metro Rumour two Tottenham are confident of beating Liverpool to the signing of Yevhen Konoplyanka, despite the Ukrainian coming so close to joining Anfield in January. The Reds failed in a bid for the Dnipro wide man, and Spurs feel they can beat them once the transfer window opens. However, they may have to pay in excess of the £15million that was initially agreed between Dnipro and Liverpool. Source: Sunday Mirror Rumour three Inter Milan are set to rival Liverpool for Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna. Sagna is out of contract at the end of the season and has courted interest from the Reds. But reports in Italy suggest the Serie A could join the race for his signature. Source: Daily Mirror Rumour four The Reds are preparing a bid for Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho. The 23-year-old was a key performer in the Spanish side's run to the Champions League quarter-finals last season. His versatility, and £13m price tag, may tempt Liverpool to make a summer move. Source: Sports Direct News Rumour five The Blues are targeting Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen in a surprise move for the midfielder. Boss Roberto Martinez gave Allen his Swansea debut as a teenager, and remains a firm admirer of the Welshman. But the Reds would not consider selling for anything less than £10m.
Lallana I was thinking, I agree with you that Enrique is a top left back (we just need to keep him fit) And I think Suso is going to want first team Football and not sure he will get that with us next year.
I think he will, we will have a lot more games and I can see him playing for us in the European games and making a lot of appearances from the bench.
can i ask on think about shaw.... this guy is 18 and really in his first year and people are absolutely creaming themselves over him. surely this is ridiculous and we can see loads of examples of guys who've not proved themselves being such flavors of the month. Doesn't this just show how poor the pool to select from really is? I mean this kids is most sought after fully back while bertrand despite his CL WINNERS MEDAL is yesterdays flavour of the month and perhaps will go to villa which just shows something. I think personally players really ought to prove themselves before making the big step up. oh and before jumping all over it think... saying he's not proved something does mean i say he won't nor might not be a bargain at a big fee but I am saying he could also go the way of many others and not take the next step too.
