I know but ,lambert excepted, they always seem to drag on as though we are always arguing over afew quid. I don't know but it does seem to take an age.
Or this would be easier: please log in to view this image Not getting over Firmino. He would be perfect for us.
It has done and I know what you mean but we cant complain this Summer I dont think. We have done deals as quick as others Lets see who else we get!
Suarez is a striker! IMO guys he and sturridge compliment as both are comfortable dropping off but both have the instinct to run in behind all the time so SAS was all about no cb could follow thier man as the other would be in behind them Compare to Rooney and RvP, first instinct is go deep, pull wide If we want a replacement for Suarez IMO that person has to have the instinct to get behind defenses
I don't think that attribute is exclusive to strikers though. Sterling or Sanchez for example are capable of making runs in behind and yet wouldn't be categorized as a striker. However you define Suarez positionally I think the argument is that we will miss his creativity and moments of inspiration more than just the goals he scored and that's why an old fashioned striker (ie Bony) wouldn't make a good replacement.
If we had an infinite pit of money and FFP wasn't a thing then he would. But £20m is big chunk of change for a player who improves the squad but not the team.
I'm working on the assumption that we get Origi, Markovic, an expensive defender (ie £20m Lovren), if we're lucky another attacking player (ie £20m Bony), some bargain basement fullback (ie £5-8m Bertrand) and that'll probably be it. If we signed Bony and another quality attacking option like Firmino then I'm fine with that, although I'd prefer the Bony money on a more versatile attacking talent like Firmino and more money on both fullbacks. Yeah Firmino. Sign him.
Sure wingers getting beyond are great but that's not Suarez. The first instinct is forward... Get behind score Look at RvP again, look at Carroll, they don't do that they pull wide for the channels If you've got that someone's got to get beyond but they also have to supply the ball and defend so they are damned busy SAS.... Our choice is to try to replicate it while improving midfield solidity or go 433 and relay on wingers and an easier to mark single striker... When sturridge goes deep cbs can relax... But with 2 up our opponents never got a rest and I loved it, seeing sides finding one drop in the hole and the other exploiting the cap and players like Gerrard and coutinho and even later sterling looking for the quick pass in
We need someone who is up the top scoring goals. Versatile attacking players are good... but we have some, even if there are better ones we'd like... MarkyMarkovic, Firmino, etc... I'm sure are excellent and will improve our squad. However, we've only got one first team striker or centre forward nows: Sturridge. Lambert clearly isn't meant to replace Suarez. Borini and Aspas are neither good enough nor likely to stick around long. We have: Sterling, Coutinho, Llama all first team attacking midfield players... we could do with one or two more quality attacking mids... but a true forward is missing more. If Bony isn't the answer (and I don't know)... then who is? Someone who is a true forward.
If Moreno, markovic, origi and lovern all come off that's a huge summer imo that 62 mil min right there We've spent 39 mil today so if there another 20 mil left I would be frowning deeply at the thought that bony has any value for us. Get me a no 9
According to Eurosport Serge Aurier's agent is heading to England tomorrow to hold talks with a 'very big club'. GFN France believe it to be Liverpool. Toulouse looking for a fee believed to be around 10m euros.
I've signed him many times on Football Manager and history has proven many times that Liverpool spy on my football manager games because they always sign players I sign!
Been linked with Newcastle and Arsenal. Know anything about him? I didn't see anything of Ivory Coast at the WC.
Firmino did play up front a few times for Hoffenheim last season and did very well. He scored as many goals as Bony last season and created far more. He could play upfront, or second striker, or attacking midfield or either wing. That said if we have to a centre forward and only a centre forward then I don't know. I can't think of many that fit MITO's stipulation of fast movement in behind. Most are more target men like Bony. I still feel a talented second striker would do a better job for us.
Not a lot. He's very fast apparently. Had a good season in France. Didn't have a great WC but there weren't many standouts for Ivory Coast.
Him and Bony will be right at home as International team mates and club team mates then Shame we'll lose them both in January/February every couple of years.
Spent most of the season as a right wing back in 3-5-2 at Toulouse. So might be more attack minded, 6 goals and 6 assists last season.
