I saw the Valencia story... figured a journalist messed up and we're considering buying the Valencia squad- not the OK- but nothing special player from Manchester United.

Same as 4 or 5 years ago when we were briefly linked with a player called Everton; and again when Rafa wanted to sign Villa.

Here is a prediction... sometime before 2030 we'll be linked with a player called Bob Borussia-Mönchengladbach

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has outlined the qualities he is looking for in potential new signings. He told the Liverpool Echo:
"We want to bring in players who are hungry. They must have the ambition to want to come in and succeed here."

Those were panic loans.

I think Coutinho and Sturridge are enough to make Rodgers transfer record good on their own. I reckon Sakho and Ilori will be great, hungry signings.

So yesterday it was €65m, the day before it was £52million and today its £72million buyout clause. Which is it?

All media crap. They know no more than any person with an active interest in football. Not to mention Barca have a history of planting bullshit stories to unsettle targets.
Anyone who reads these rumour stories and believes more than 10% of whats written is a moron.

€65m is £52m <doh>

Some of the stories are pure fiction, some have a basis of truth and others are planted by one of the parties involved

Barca are going through a boardroom crisis and major restructuring. Plus their debts.

They need to replace Alves and Puyol before they do anything.

They need to cut out Cuenca, Affellay, Dos Santos etc before they do anything because their squad is too big.

They need to lose one of Sanchez or Pedro before they make another big signing - before we consider Deulofeu and Tello.

Enrique seems to want a proper striker as a priority too - a plan B. That's not really Luis.

If this is going to happen Liverpool are in a great position to drag things out and get the best deal. Do we really believe that our incredibly successful businessmen owners would have all the trouble last summer with a buyout clause and still negotiate a new contract with an equally problematic clause?

The one thing which could sway things would be Suarez himself. He has family over there doesn't he?

End of the day we'll get a pretty big fee, most likely £65m - and in an ideal world some sort of deal for Tello or Sanchez, or first option. But being Barca they'd want to pay it back over time.

If Benzema keeps playing like he is and Ronaldo doesn't want Suarez, he can't go anywhere else in the world right now.

So... let's cut the ****. There's no need to be worked up - we should have every faith that FSG will either take Barca to the cleaners or keep our prize asset. Noises from Rodgers and the better journalists indicate that FSG will buy a real talent this summer regardless of Suarez. If he leaves, we'll hardly sit still either.

I can't believe there is actually discussion about a story written by a Spanish rag that is more unreliable than bloody Marca. AS Sport and I might take a look. It's utter rubbish. Suarez may well leave, but this paper certainly has no inside source, it's just another hit and hope.

Am I missing something? I thought that Barca had a transfer embargo for 12 months for dodgy dealings with youth players.

Yes I know that €65m is £52m, I was making the point that today it was £72m and that paper's just make up figures and clauses in players contracts.
And I'm sure that someone connected to Barca, whether it be someone who actually works for them or just affiliated, has planted this story. Its part of the their transfer policy and they've done it time and time again. But it would only be the same if Someone working for Everton went to the papers and said they were interested in having Messi.
Its funny that the English rags have picked up a story by a Spanish paper less reputable than them.

The Catalan press are disagreeing this morning. Mundo Deportivo, as we covered earlier, reckon that Liverpool's Luis Suarez is Barcelona bound and there's not much standing in the way of a deal. They say the player wants it, which may very well be true, but the other Catalan football newspaper, Sport, sound like they've had a cold shower and are facing some uncomfortable reality.

Sport say that the transfer is almost 'impossible' and explained that Barcelona are aware Luis Suarez is right now an 'impossible dream'. Suarez has managed to price himself out of a move to Barcelona, explain the newspaper, because of his wages and transfer fee.

They reckon Suarez is paid €12m after tax per year and added to a transfer fee, on a five year contract, plus associated costs, they think the deal could cost more than €200m.

They want him but Barcelona need to strengthen in other areas and the purchase of Luis Suarez would restrict that, perhaps completely and not just for one window. Sport aren't sure Liverpool would stick to any clause and Barcelona are aware any deal would have to be one upfront payment, something the club aren't keen on in any respect.

This is a much nicer slant on the situation for Liverpool fans.

i agree... indeed given pep guardiola's brother is the agent of suarez that barca easily know what the true scenario is and further the spanish press would have the actual figures if there were any truth in it.

you'll know when it's real
