Well he is a Flemish Belgian, so same difference. I think a fully fit Vermaelen on his day is a very good player, but I think the injuries have taken a toll on him.
Vermaelen was a good player not so long ago. Sad to see inuries have forced him to take a big contract at a smaller club.
His main injury was over 3 years ago. He's simply not as good as Koscielny or Mertesacker. He's good but not great. Kind of like Kolo Toure. Which would translate to being United's first choice defender if they got him
