How much did we pay for Aspas to warm that bench? I'll wager it's a lot less than we're paying for Lambert and we'll actually see him playing a little! £4 is ok. The initially reported £8-10m made me choke a bit tbh! Who's next?
i heard Aspas was on something between 30-40k, not a lot really by todays standards, but we got what we paid for lol ****e!
Was listening to a Southampton game towards the end of last season and the commentator (can't remember who it was or who the games was against) was waxing lyrical about Lambert saying that whenever he's watched Southampton, he'd been their best player and was much, much more than a target man. At 32, he's in the twilight of his career but at £4m, that's ok!
Think Aspas was £7m. Think Can will be next. Hoping either Can or Shaqiri. Edit - the Southampton fans are devastated that he's going, and for £4m too. I really do feel sorry for them. Hope we leave Lallana alone and go for Shaqiri instead. (Mainly because I don't want Lallana for the price they want and also it gives the Soton fans a bit of hope )
Would love these 2. You think we'd go for both Lallana & Shaq? Still would need a FB, CB & GK by all accounts
Hope we go for a Shaqiri, hopefully we stay away from Lallana, check my edited post #2764. With Fabianski going to Swansea, it could free up Vorm coming to us. He'd be a good back up keeper, better than Jones for sure. Edit - also think we'll get Moreno
Shaqiri and Can would be brilliant buys and would represent good value IMO. Both are versatile players - key in Rodgers's system/philosophy. Wouldn't be surprised if we did go for both Lallana and Shaqiri as they're different types of player but the reports have suggested we will only go for Shaqiri if Lallana deals falls through, which would be a massive shame. Can, Moreno and Shaqiri ...
Might not be the end of the world, the Swansea fans don't seem too bothered about losing him as well.
Overrated keeper - a lot of his deficiencies are masked by the fact that he can play with the ball at his feet. I think we wanted David Marshall from Cardiff but were priced out of a move.
Quality? He hasn't had a great season, even the Swansea fans have said so. Apparently he's really gone down hill lately, also money talks.
Either would be a great signing. Personally I'm edging slightly towards Lallana, purely on the basis he would fit our system absolutely perfect and he's proven in the PL. But either I'd be happy with Also - Lambert for £4mil is great business, offers us something different, and can play in a system similair to ours (like Southampton played last season).
all these are fine and good until a will exists on both sides. vorm... i shrug at, decent no question. sahqiri? could all be agent talk. can.. i've no opinion at all. how can i? lallana seems way over priced. moreno seems good from europa but who knows
Tobes is raging today about Liverpool. I'm guessing he's feeling sad that half his squad are heading home after their loan spells! BTW Tobes, genuine question - Any news on any transfer business coming out of Everton? Targets? etc.
I think the phrase 'Proven in the PL' should be banned on the board lol. Having PL experience counts for nothing - look at the likes of Downing, Carroll, Adam. Even Torres had PL experience before turning sh*t for Chelsea.
