I know we tend to keep our business fairly quiet but I'm surprised we don't seem to be being linked with anyone - take out the Mendy situation. There's definitely a few more positions we need to strengthen. Or have I missed some recent links?

I think its a bit like The Kremlin over there now, if anyone leaks anything they are taken onto the banks of The Wear and fed to the fish

RLB says probably just one striker to come in:

Le Bris did not rule out making multiple additions to his frontline, but said the focus at the moment is bringing in one player who could support Eliezer Mayenda and Nazariy Rusyn. Le Bris believes both of those players can have an impact and that Mayenda in particular has exceeded expectation across the course of pre season, but added that neither is yet ready to lead the line throughout a long Championship campaign.

“For example, Eliezer wasn't expected at this level. For sure, one is very important because the strikers we have currently at the club are not ready to play all the games this season. One will be useful for sure, then we'll see.”

I’m probably trying to be overly positive here but feels he’s playing the idea of 2 down to stop there being frustrations if only one comes in?

I never thought anything different realistically.

It's so different from previous years. Usually you'd look back on the season and say unless we bring in a new striker, we won't score. But we've now got a group of lads who continually improve each year. He didn't have the best time at hibs but sometimes the experience of a bad time actually helps you more than a successful experience

If we sign two strikers we would have plenty of options to swap players round, with both mayenda and rusyn being able to play as wingers on top of Mundle Poveda and Ba covering Clarke and Roberts

I think Rusyn and Mayenda are a fine combination to work from, so long as we are trying to recruit another one, three games until the window closes, we can live with three games.
Just seen the transfer window shuts August 30th this year (day before Portsmouth game).

I’m sure it usually shuts early September, wonder why it’s changed.

August 30th is a Friday, I think it usually closes September 1st but it might have something to do with closing before or after the weekend. Just a guess.

Mayenda is so quick, he’s going to make space for Jacky and Paddy.

We haven’t had that in an age.

We have the option of putting Jobe there if we need to as well.

Mendy feels like the right lad for right now, so if we holding on for it to play itself out then I get it.
