I think Rigg might be here next season but I also think there's a good chance he isn't. Depends who comes in for him and how much they're willing to bid.

Dortmund for example might think they can get him for £20m, to which I think we all already know he's worth more than that. I see no reason he shouldn't be commanding £40m like Archie Gray. If a Man City decide they want him, that might be what we get.

It will also depend on his contract status (can't believe I'm already talking about that). In the summer he'll only have 2 years left, and if he indicates he won't sign a new one, then we might be more inclined to accept a good offer than we would be if he'd signed a 5 year deal.

He’s destined for the top, we just need to enjoy him while he’s here, if we don’t go up this year the cash he could potentially bring in could be a real springboard in getting us up and ready to stay there, how nice is it to have the worlds elite battling for our players though? We’re going canny, we’ll be fine

If we can get ourselves promoted, by hook or by crook, then I could see us keeping Rigg for another couple of seasons after this one. He's 17, at a club he's been at for years and it must feel like home to him. There is value to that which shouldn't be overlooked.

No doubt he'll be ambitious, but I reckon he's probably desperate for the club to keep progressing so in the short term at least, he can continue his development in familiar surroundings, playing regularly and naturally with a well deserved bump in wages each season.

I reckon just on reputation for his potential right now he is £20 million easy. Give him a full season performing like he is and can double that easy!

Unlike Jack Clarke this is a kid who has been tipped to be one of the very best in the country if not Europe from a early age. If he shows that potential for a full season could be a huge figure.

SAFC fans love to overvalue our players haha. £40m if he has a good year is pie in the sky, imo. Dortmund reportedly paid £25m for Jude, we really saying Rigg is twice the player? He's a fantastic talent no doubt, and £20 - £30m isn't unrealistic, but noone is paying any more than that for a player with 1 full year's experience in the Championship.

If we get promoted and he stays and has a good season in the Prem, however, we could be looking at mega money...

You are wrong, £50 million with all the bits at least, and I am not joking, he has it all

Pretty chill on the Rigg situation. The contract this year was the main thing. We are protected by that so any bids will have to be significant and I trust KS to get a good deal like he has done with every outgoing in his tenure.

Clubs looking at Rigg is a good thing, it means he's good.

IIRC we offered the maximum length of contract that you can to a 17yo at the time. When Rigg is 18 he can sign a more lucrative, longer contract. I would be very surprised if the club have not already sketched out proposals for a new contract when he is 18.

Yeh can only offer 3 years to a 17 year old. I'd be surprised as well if we didnt have a plan in place.

Just heard from Rigg's dar

So, he scores 8 goals this season and gets a handful of lovely assists, picks up a little knock whilst playing for England under 21's, we gan up, he plays a year of premier league football, scoring at Old Trafford in a 2-1 win. We stay up by the skin of our teeth, off he pops to Portsmouth (they've been taken over by Rich energy) for 100 million plus 100k if they get promoted.

The value is more the fact top clubs in Europe have been watching him for the past few years thinking he is going to be the next player of Bellinghams level. Must admit I thought Bellingham was just starting to break through when he was bought by Dortmund similar to Jobe but showed a bit more in the time he did play and a quick look at his wiki shows that wasn't the case.

I would normally agree with you.

I was quite happy with the valuation of Jack Clarke because he's probably as good as he'll get.

Rigg is as already as good as Clarke imo, probably better, and will become a top class national player imo.

It's not impossible he can become world class ...

... if we were to sell him for £20/30m I'd think that was the worst mistake we'd made since Moyes, McMenemy and Beale put together.

Incidentally this is how they'd look if you did put them all together ....

Agreed. I think we get a good deal either way because of the range of interest. If we go up we may get one or two more years before he hits the champions league.

I'd be surprised if a prayer mate isn't part of the plan <laugh>

The main factor in any of Riggs valuations will be the potential of multiple clubs after his signature, that’s when inflated valuations occur to our advantage, unlike Clarke where reportedly only one club were interested

For me there's about a 50% chance of us keeping Rigg for one more season if we get promoted. If we don't, I think there's about a 5% chance that he's still here. .

This lad is on a trajectory that I've never seen at close quarters before. He's making rapid improvements every single week. By the end of the season there's every chance that he's the best player in this league regardless of age.
