Sheffield Wednesday could end their interest in Hull City forward Mallik Wilks and switch their attention to other transfer targets. The Owls had been hoping Wilks would join new arrivals Michael Smith, Akin Famewo, Ben Heneghan, Will Vaulks, David Stockdale, Reece James and Michael Ihiekwe in time for their Portugal pre-season training camp.
It is well-documented Wednesday had a six-figure bid, thought to be in the region of £200,000, knocked back for Wilks last month. Although Wilks is believed to be keen on a move to Hillsborough, a potential deal has hit the buffers due to a dispute over the transfer fee.
Yorkshire Live understands that Hull have slapped a sizeable six-figure price tag on Wilks. The Owls, though, are keen to avoid paying over the odds for a player who has entered the final year of his Tigers contract.
