Connor Bromley mentioned Ross Stewart being a free agent, my assumption is the vast majority would pass due to us now being bigger and better than the lad but I guess I'm just the romanic type and would love to see him holding up the scarf for the second time. Completely unique player but obviously there would be serious injury concerns.

Couldn't take that chance. He'd be a cracking signing for Boro actually, even if they only get say twenty games out of him, he'll make a huge difference.

Think i read somewhere he was the third highest earner, which was the stumbling block for us. Or it might have been Taff on one of his videos.

The internet puts him in the £75,000-£90,000 bracket which is quite high for us right now, but honestly as the squad expands and we start renewing contracts over the next couple of seasons, that will seem very average looking at the wage bills of most Premiership clubs.

That's a massive amount. Geertuida is an excellent player but I understand it's a dilemma for the club. £18 million-ish fee and £75,000-£90,000 on wages.

If we can get those figures down by 20% then I'd argue he is just the type of player to help us navigate 50+ games next season.

Worth a punt if the price is ok.

Free agent and was earning around 20k a week at Southampton, my assumption would be he would want a bit more than that as a free agent but considering his injury record and age he wouldn't be able to demand a lot more. He's a unique player, the main question is if people think he has the qualities to put a dent in Premiership defences.

Yeah he has the quality but I think we got rid of him because we knew he was a crock. Couldn’t see the club going anywhere near him.

window opens next Monday,

think give it a week after that we may start to see things start to move

we havent realsed the retained list yet ( or if we have I have missed it)

Hindsight makes kings of us all!I don't think our physios and docs are any better than Southampton's around making predictions on future fitness so looking backs its obvious to all we made the right decision to sell but I doubt it had anything to do with his fitness it was all about the wages and the assessment by us that he had reached the peak of his value curve. He could have gone on and stayed fit for years and banged goals in for Southampton but he was of more fiscal value to us to sell and we did.

That’s a sign that we’re still negotiating with him imo, he’ll probably have to lower his demands somewhat though.
Another sign is from the other players telling him to sign the contract on his Instagram post last week

Hindsight? He was always injured towards the end of his time here. The assumption at the time was that we sold him because of his injuries.

I wasn’t certain but you seem to be, so thanks for the info <ok>
