The master of the last ditch tackle, for sure. Has to be... his positional sense isn't quite what it might be, alas.
Whilst the first team have been quiet transfer wise it seems the Under 23 squad has had a total overhaul! https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/under-23s/under-23-barrett-whelan-sign
Good news ? https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/17814452.ismaila-sarr-expected-complete-move-rennes-watford/
Pour Ismaïla Sarr, « il n’y a pas de négociations avancées », mais le dirigeant rennais a fixé un prix pour son attaquant. La porte est ouverte pour le Sénégalais. This seems to say that the price has not been agreed yet, but if it is agreed he will be free to go.
The snake apparently wants Doucoure... http://www.insidefutbol.com/2019/08...iations-continue-player-ready-to-move/432228/
https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/17814452.ismaila-sarr-expected-complete-move-rennes-watford/ £30 mill plus??? are we selling ot fund this?
https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/17814862.watford-reject-everton-bid-abdoulaye-doucoure/ Another bid in the offing......
From football365: Everton have made a £27.5m bid for Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure. The Toffees have signed four players so far this summer, with free agent Jonas Lossl and £22m addition Andres Gomes joined by f***ing sensible Fabian Delph and £25m midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin. That last signing was seemingly made to immediately replace Idrissa Gueye, with Gbamin moving to Goodison Park in the same week Gueye left for PSG. But L’Equipe suggest Doucoure has instead been identified as the Senegalese’s ‘successor’. The midfielder ‘would be tempted by a new challenge and the idea of joining the Toffees would not displease him,’ which certainly helps. Watford will demand at least £36.6m to do business, with the early transfer window closure, the nature of selling to a direct rival and reported interest from across Europe instructing their valuation. Yet even that might not be enough. L’Equipe suggest the move will ‘accelerate’ over the next few days, but Watford are happy to keep the player and their relationship with Everton was soured by their pursuit of Marco Silva. The Hornets could use the proceeds to finally bring in Ismaila Sarr from Rennes, but it seems unlikely.
I very much hope so... and why sell to a club at the same level as us? I just makes them stronger etc etc
From the video highlights, Sarr was quick, but his close control was poor (and not that bloody close!), and the final ball more than wanting. Very raw talent indeed, given this is presumably the best he has to show. £10m tops for me, and certainly not worth losing Doucoure for this lad. It must be gusty in that part of France, too, because he seemed to fall over a lot (hence Palace’s interest? ).
