    So much of this stuff is complete twaddle & made up.

    I discount all rumours where it would cost multi-million bids to secure as it's just not going to happen.
    As an example Stambouli won't happen unless it's a season long loan. And we are def not interested in a £3m left back!

    I think all that happens when a player is on a free is that the player gets the equivalent of what would have been the transfer fee as a signing on fee. So I don't think it makes much difference to the amount paid whether it's a free or not.

    It's not that they get the whole transfer fee as a bonus, they're just able to ask for a better contract as they are more in demand.

    I'm all for Micah Richards joining, surprised he doesn't play for England instead of Walker tbh...

    Why do we need the " Asian Lloyd Doyley" when we have the real Lloyd Doyley? I must say I have not often noticed Lloyd's "scintillating footwork", but his other qualities are inimitable.

    I know it sounds i bit silly but signing on fees are payed over the term of the contract ie a 3 year deal would get 1/3 each year (i used to have dealing with 3 footballers and there contracts was all that way)
