We need to strip the squad back to bare bones before moving forward. Unfortunately, players like Etete will be difficult to move on. Not necessarily because he's bad, but because no-one has seen him play. He's shown flashes, but can't put any game time in. I did have hopes for him.
Not sure if Salech will want to be with us next year, but with Salech, Simic and Robinson up front, we'll be well stocked.
And down a division we'll need to operate with a slimmed down squad just for budgeting purposes.
I doubt Simic will ever kick a ball for us. Same as Tsuonoda.
The players we need freed are Chambers and Willock. 2 disastrous signings. I doubt anyone will take over their contracts though.
Salech would bang in 25 goals in L1 but I'd say he's a certain departure.
Rubin and Ashford will probably be sold and I suspect Robinson as well. Possibly O Dowda.
Daland any offers take it.

If Willock is anything to go by, leave him there. Also no point in acquiring a player that's probably no better than what we've already got coming through our own academy.
Trust in what we've got and bring in some experience to replace those who are bound to leave either by choice or design. Biggest problem I've got is the recent acquisition history at the club which doesn't bode well without substantial change.
For me, as always, it comes down to an identity / playing style.
Without that, it's the usual scatter gun approach to signing players.
It's why we sign so many 'flops', who are decent before we sign them and decent after they leave.
DoF, game plan, manager, square pegs in square holes. In that order.

No great loss on last 2 seasons' form. Good luck wherever he goes. Could even be back to Reading and torment us again next season.
Was nowhere to be seen at Norwich on Saturday, that's because he was at Reading according to the article.

Just read this post from Paul Abbo and to me it makes a lot of sense. Let’s get the best of our youngsters, playing together in the third division and compliment them with some decent signings. It’s time to rebuild our team.
Of course a decent manager is essential and a DOF. And we need to be patient. If we don’t go up next season, and let’s be fair we won’t with the squad we have at the moment, then we need to build a team that will kick on into the championship and hopefully beyond.
Of course there is a caveat. Will our owner and board pay any attention to this? Well we just have to live in hope. That is if they are still around next season.

We've been saying similar on here for years.
Preaching to the choir.
The problem is, the owner and board are to stubborn and lacking in football experience to take it on board.
Saying nice things to our youngsters is not likely to improve them........but if we add a few suitable older heads they will learn and get better!
In rugby, we always talked about experience at 2, 8, 9, 10 and 15. At least 4 of the 5.
For footy it would be gk, cb, cm and striker. 3 of the 4.
Always need experience in the spine of the team.
We say they have no football experience and they certainly have no background.
However they have been overseeing the club for 15 years or more with play offs, cup finals, promotions, relegations, numerous managers and a good player or 2.
Most people would have learned from those experiences, you would have thought....
Apparently not!!!
We speak of experience in fishing. Some have 15 years experience, some have 1 year's experience 15 times.
They've learned nothing in those 15 years. Not grown, not developed.
The only thing they've learned is how to sign inappropriate managers and players.
Law of averages means they've got one or two right. More by luck than judgement.
No strategy, no vision, no road map, no integration of the club from top to bottom.
I can't think of one thing they've done strategically or tactically where I could say, 'that's made us a better club'.
Alright, bright shiny stadium. With one tier closed, that has red seats.
Building a successful football club isn't easy.
For novices, it's impossible.
TBF to them, first team decisions aside, we are starting to see the fruits of the academy now, and the investment in the training ground and new academy building/center ARE being done with a longer term view/strategy.
However, that aside though it's hard to argue with you on the rest.
The article DOES make lots of sense and IF (really big IF) we DO bring in someone to run the club on a day to day basis that has a decent enough football background and get the manager choice correct then the vision laid out in the article could easily become a reality... it's within touching distance we just need those with the power to wake up and realise they have effed up mightily and need to take responsibility, swallow some pride and do what's right for the business, the club, VT himself and all of the fans.
