Theproven player reminded me of this from 2015 Ah the proven striker like Torres the goal machine at Liverpool who flopped at Chelsea. Liverpool spent most of the Torres money on Andy Carrol another proven striker who flopped at his new club. I bet there were loads of good stats on both of those. The bottom line is that signing a new player is a gamble, so do you risk a little bit or a lot of money. There is no garantee (sp) that the more you pay the better you get.
My Derby mates reckon Yates is no good. Needs 10 chances to score. Runs all day but doesn't finish well enough. Think we've got one of those already in Joseph.
we can't afford any striker who scores 10+ goals consistently at this level there's basically 3 options 1. we sign a player from over seas who may be good 2. we sign a player like yates who may have a purple patch and score 10-15 in one season 3. we sign a young player on loan from the prem/lower leagues who may be good
Here’s a stat for you City have signed 3 of the top 10 goal scorer's in the Championship history (from 2005) and they’ve scored a total of 5 goals for us. We have 5 of the top 20 having played for us if you include Graham and King.
Option 3 is a good option Option 2 by the time we’ve signed Yates and added him to birstow and Joseph we could have signed the 10+ goal striker
Here’s some options: Kroupi on loan from Bournemouth Stulic from Charleori Antman from Go Ahead Eagles more if a right winger Adam Armstrong Callum Robinson Kone from Wycombe
They tried to do it at the Oakland As when they needed to replace Jason Giambi and bought several players to replace his run rate, but the issue we have is that while we have a striker who can manage 6 and a winger that scores 5, no frigger else chips in with a decent amount. I’d argue we don’t just need a striker, we need to get all of our players scoring more goals. How many centre half goals were there this season? Hughes managed one, but Jones, Macca, Burns and Egan didn’t. Jacob, Coyle and Drameh grabbed one each, but four goals across eight defenders is piss poor by any metric. From the central midfield three, Crooks got three, Puerta and Simons got two, Zambrano, Matazo, Palmer, Slater and Mehlem got one. So yeah, a striker should be a priority, but so should goals from elsewhere.
