My understanding is that the agreement with Villa was that we shouldnt bother paying them for Barry's loan when they owed us more than that for Philogene, so instead they just deducted it from what they owed us. The club has said they have documentation for this, which is why they're so confident of the restriction being reduced (at least). In the unlikely event that they're lifted entirely, I imagine the EFL will probably still use this to try and keep scrutinising our finances, and make sure Acun doesn't keep digging a money pit. I'm fine with that, if that's the case.
I think if we're allowed to register Puerta and Laalaoui and we loan a DM from the Prem as mooted, that would cover us and probably allow for Palmer to go out too.
Baz said he’s our most expensive player by some distance. Giles and Ömür were reported to be on £35K-a-week so McBurnie must be on more than that, possibly closer to £40-45K-a-week. On a three-year contract, that’s around £6.2-7M. Relatively speaking, that’s probably more than the transfer fee and contract combined for Joseph and Joseph’s transfer fee was £2.5M.
Re Gelhardt, Leeds obviously want rid but he's got a couple of years left on his contract getting, what, £60k a week? If we wanted to keep him we, or any other Championship club, obviously couldn't afford that so how would it play out? I assume Leeds would waive a transfer fee but that still leaves whichever club takes him on the hook for a ridiculous weekly wage.
I don't see us being able to register Puerta and Laalaoui is an attacking mid as far as I know. The loan will be good, but I'm concerned about our options in the middle until Matazo is back. Even if we get Zambrano in, we're an injury away from trouble.
Is there any other leeds players we can grab? Unwanted in the PL but good to have in the championship?
Not sure if this is the right place to post this. Really good interview on the 1904 club with Dean Holden today if anyone gets chance to listen. Didn't know anything about what happened with his daughter, heart breaking. Seems like a really level headed and positive guy. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-60493685
Not long ago we couldn't pay the wages, local suppliers or for players we had already bought. So much so the EFL put sanctions on us. But now it's OK for us to pay a player £45ish grand a week, one of a whole load of new arrivals who will also want paying. Makes no sense at all to me.
No but see it's ok because all strikers cost lots of money, so it's ok for us to spend lots of money on one.
Sorry I was meaning Laalaoui would give cover for the 10 position behind Gelhardt to allow Palmer to move. If we sign a loanee for DM cover, it gives us four players for two positions until January when hopefully we'll have Matazo and Zambrano back. It's a gamble, but if we sign another we run the risk of ironically having too many options come Jan?
This is where major caution is needed We now have a commitment with mcburnie for example Of 4-5m+ And thats one player alone Where will we be in a years time?
Coyle wasn’t even there. The sideburns of the person on CCTV were longer than Coyles. His barber and Sir Ben will testify to these facts.
