With Alzate, Simons leaving and possibly Puerta, he'd be our only starter until Zambrano gets unbanned.
There's been no suggestion that he wants to leave, other than that talk of him moving keeps coming up, which makes me wonder whether it's his agent trying to get him a move. I'm not saying it's the case, just a suspicion.

Entirely down to the lad and obviously money plays a part but I think Newcastle were after him and that might've been a good option?The Geordies would've loved his style. Sometimes players can get lost,underused and disillusioned at these bigger clubs with big turnovers like Chelsea,Man Utd etc.
One advantage this year was that we didn’t have to have a massive squad churn with very few loan players going back (who made a massive difference). While I think Slater and McLougjin are limited footballers, getting rid of them would mean they would need replacing - and the massive squad churn gathers pace once more.
