Haha yeah I know, but that opens X and I’d rather attend a Taliban rally dressed in a Stars and Stripes tux than spend 30 seconds on that heap of ****e.
Maka has had interest the past couple of windows from Champ teams and his last 6 months will have certainly increased his reputation too, maybe a chance of squeezing 1.5-2m out of someone if they're really desperate for a left sided CB, crazier things have happened. Personally if one of our current CBs needs to move on to make way for someone new I think the call should come down to which side the incoming lad plays on, if it's someone naturally left sided them Maka goes, if naturally right sided look to move Alfie on.
McLoughlin’s only limitation is his pace. He’s one of the best progressive passers in the division, great in the air. Decent enough age also. Maybe £3m is a tad excessive but I’d think £2m if his contract situation isn’t terrible would be a fair price
The price is whatever someone is willing to pay. He is a model pro, competitive at this level and isn't past his best. I don't see your valuation as excessive.
Sam Clucas has signed for Shrewsbury Town, decent move for him, it's a two year deal and he's 35 this year.
After the season he has had (one of the best 4 or 5 players imo), I don't think 2m is unreasonable. With a quick player alongside or in a back 5 and he would be a decent buy.
Macca during the second half of last season must have been one of the first names on the team sheet. He was dependable and always gave his all when invariably he was being played out of position. He was my runner up for player of the season.
This. I’d hope that was up there on the priorities list and that we aren’t pinning our hopes on Giles wanting to give it another go.
We'll flog him for an undisclosed fee(let's say a million for arguments sake) and we'll replace him with a £3 million punt who couldn't lace his boots...
Yes, probably. One who was injured alot last season so will need 3 months to get up to pace and in the team, before tearing his hamstring in his first game.
As Alfie lost his place late last season, despite in my eyes having had a pretty good season (look at our goals against column, and that when we clearly had issues at full back), I thought he would definitely be rattling his agent's cage over the summer. But you'd like to think with a new coach, all our defenders get chance to prove they are worth a place in the team. That includes for me Drameh, who I think is our best RB. The idea that we sell him before a new coach comes in seems mad to me, but hey, coaches don't seem to get to choose who stays and who goes these days.
Interesting your choice of words. He will probably want to give it another go, as no one will touch him with a barge pole.
I think it's mad to be taking about getting rid of Macca or Jones. Both such reliable players in a squad with too few of those. Getting rid of players like that has always backfired for us. We need to trim the squad by getting rid of those who earn a good wage but contribute little, not the stalwarts who've served us well again and again whilst earning probably a fraction of what some of the newer players are paid. And Macca has just had probably his best season for us.
Agree if we want to be challenging for the play offs the one thing we really need is more league one fodder.
Pretty blunt that, but... I find it hard to argue with you. I mean, taking the tinted specs off for a minute, it's pretty much true isn't it. If we're talking about this season alone then Jones, Slater, even Coyle for the most part have been real let downs for us all in all. Since we lost Seri to do all the actual football for them they've dropped off the face of a cliff.
