Injured. He played the second half of their final game of the season, but that was his first appearance since February.
Seems he had 2 hamstring injuries last season, don't know how to interpret that but it can't be ignored.
I can't understand all the clamouring over signing someone serving a doping ban. Surely the main aim of the Club should be spending money on players fit and able to start at the beginning of the season?
Depends on the fee for me. It’s the right type of signing that’ll help us stop burning money as he could likely be worth 8 figures in a season if he kicks on given his age and position
We’ve been paying him for coming up to a year. He’s made 8 fleeting appearances for us during the first month and a half. He’s served over half of a ban and will be available for most of next season. Notwithstanding any moral issues, binning him off now would be a pretty shortsighted decision… …so that’s the most likely outcome, I guess.
The unfortunate reality of most champ teams. It stops you losing £500k a week and being £70m in debt though…
In this instance Ric, not only has look of a really decent footballer (strolled through games like one step above when playing ) its a bit like sitting on an investment in the certain belief you will multiply your investment and then some.
I think there's a bit of rose tinted glasses here. He had his share of mistakes. Didn't he give away multiple goals against Norwich with some loose passing?
Strange that no other Club has saw the potential gain and we haven't been gazumped in the stampede to sign him up?
Maybe that was the play with regards to taking the chance last summer showing our faith in him and he’s repaying it by not entertaining anyone else?
Well if we did have an agreement in place so others couldn't jump in,(A link to that would clarify it for me) then I'm puzzled as to why there seems to be a bit of a haggle over 'Numbers' at the moment?
To be fair the whole side had a bad day v Norwich, MOM was Pandur, Zambrano got a handful of votes. Prior to that he'd been looking ok, finding his feet and showing touches of class the likes of which we hadn't seen in a while!
Fair question. I too thought everything was in place. Maybe we're trying to reduce the cost given the ban continues through into part of this coming season?
The Zambrano we knew feels like a mythical beast; a presence from another time, an exaulted name to be mentioned in whispers and an opportunity never fulfilled. Or less prosaicly I can't remember a great deal about him. The strongest memory I have is that on his debut - presumably under Walter's barking orders to by-pass the midfield - no one would pass to him. He was like the ostracized kid in the playground whom the bigger boys had decided they where going to bully by making sure he didn't get a touch.
Options are different though aren’t they? As you have to agree terms with the player after, obligation requires agreement with the player before they join
