Simons isn’t in our hands. Wycombe have an option to buy. Alzate’s 99% likely to be sold, apparently. Puerta may or may not go too but isn’t a number 6 anyway. Potentially, Simons, Alzate, Puerta, Mehlem, Ömür and Palmer will all be sold this summer. Zambrano may not be signed. That leaves us with Slater, Crooks and an injured Matazo (until Christmas at the earliest) as midfielders more likely to stay than not. Looks like another major squad churn, especially in midfield, which a lot of us would’ve preferred to avoid.
I think it's a combination of finances and what you said, we are going to need midfielders that are available to play, so I guess we need to prioritise that first.
If we signed a free agent like Kyprianou (now gone to Watford) or someone else like Rosier who is out-of-contract at Fortuna Sittard then signing Zambrano permanently might make sense as we’d have a solid defensive mid coming in already. However, if we have to shell out a transfer fee for a defensive midfielder then it makes signing Zambrano less feasible.
I still reckon we'll sign him. We've got till end of June yet before we need to decide. Once we have a new manager who hopefully gives his approval of the transfer, he'll be signed.
If we’ve got an option until end of June (?) then why would be bother doing anything before then? A better option could come along, or he could have a freak accident and get injured. So if it is the case that we’ve got the choice then I’d leave it until last minute tbf
Exactly. Cards all in our favour. There is absolutely no point in saying anything or doing anything at the moment. He can't sign for anyone else and we don't need to do anything for a month. I just don't understand why people are fanny flapping and making assumptions about something that is clearly in hand.
I'll gladly admit I do. It's ****ing annoying when it's constant and things become fact before they've even happened. It's often like Minority Report amongst our fanbase. Actual discussion on the discussion board would be a marked improvement as opposed to the endless tribalism. It's needlessly tiring. Let's see what happens before our camel toes start giving rounds of applause. I don't like what is and what seems to be happening at the moment either but if anyone's suggesting we calm down a bit then it's probably wise to heed it.
To an extent I agree that rumours become facts very quickly on here, however we then see the opposite where once things are done people say "It's done, move on" as if you can't discuss things in retrospect, but then you seemingly can't discuss them before they happen either.
I wonder how some find the time to post so much on here, never mind concern themselves so much about things they have zero control over or right to know about. There are some people who appear to wake up and immediately start arguing with anonymous people about things that are not even a worry for the club. It's weird.
