I don’t think we’ll sign Zambrano and we’d need a defensive midfielder anyway since he wouldn’t be available until November and Alzate most likely will go. Kyprianou’s already joined Watford. Don’t think we’d have a chance at signing him but Nicolai Remberg would be quality.

His legs have gone. Only managed 11 minutes since January. As a squad player like Amrabat, he’d be okay, but we’re likely not signing Zambrano and selling Alzate and Simons. Need a defensive midfielder as an immediate and long-term option to be starting most games.
No one has any idea if we are signing Zambrano or not aside from an assumption made on our retained list from an article across the world. If this was part of the plan all along to get him on reduced fee and have the chance initially when other bigger clubs wanted him due to the ban then why would we now renege on it?
Personally I don't even think the club knows at the moment and depends on moving on players for a fee.
I get what you’re saying but he won’t be available until November at the earliest. If we were keeping one of Alzate and Simons then it might be more feasible. If we’re selling Alzate and Simons, we may as well use the money to buy a defensive midfielder who is able to come in during pre-season straight away. Just saw that Stoke are interested in Luton’s Fanne Dabo. That’s the sort of player we should be going for if Alzate is going.
Keep Simons make do with him till Zambrano is up to speed maybe? I really liked Zambrano and smell a coup with him that’s why I’m so sure we need to persist. I can understand your thought process with that one though, a decent champ operator with some meat on the bones is what this side has been crying out for since forever.
