It’s fascinating that there seems to be only one club that wants him. I get that he isn’t very good but surely there are others
Bit of a blow to Sunderland. Jobe Bellingham: Borussia Dortmund agree £31m deal to sign Sunderland midfielder - BBC Sport
Yeah, I see this as a good thing for them. The sale should give them more to work with in the transfer window - and they're going to need as big a budget as possible to have any chance at all of surviving.
I mean, is there much point in predicting this? It’s what 99.9% of football fans already assume anyway. And the window has only just opened.
Not sure why people keep mentioning Manning as a potential signing for Rangers. Not many ROI internationals play for them.
Leeds now linked with Charles. Can’t see us being remotely interested in selling unless a crazy offer comes in? Bellingham going to Dortmund for around £32 million, so I’d imagine it would take a bid around that figure, to even entertain selling? Also with Spurs close to getting Thomas Frank, their right sided player option looks to be shifting towards Mbeumo rather than Dibling as they consider the fee we are asking is crazy. Like £60 million and £250,000 per week for Mbeumo isn’t
Same article that says Leeds are looking at Charles also says that we are unlikely to sanction a sale so yeah, would take a huge offer.
Charles is an interesting one. Not like he’s been treated particularly well since arriving, thrown under the bus by Martin and dropped because he couldn’t play the role Martin wanted him to; then loaned out. If a PL team has genuine interest can see him wanting out
I think most of us are in agreement that if we go into the first game with Downes, Charles and Fernandes and enough pieces around them then we have a great shot at going back up. That makes them pretty 'not for sale' in my book unless it's silly money or they become d!ckheads about the whole thing. I think the only one people might go silly for is Fernandes.
Yeah I agree we should be doing all we can to keep them, but all three of them will likely want out if the right club comes along. If you look at it from Charles’ perspective: highly thought of at City (didn’t he win young player or something there? Or was he captain of their u23 team?) Championship side offers big money for you, a side with a recent history with other Man City young players and giving them lots of chances. Sign for them probably expecting to play a lot, play a bit in a role not really suited to and then get dropped with the manager saying performances not good enough Loaned out to a mid table Champ side, perform well and now PL teams are showing an interest. Why would he want another season in the Champ when he has shown he is very good for that level already/too good for it. Reminds me of the Tella situation when we last went down and he had a great season with Burnley, and Saints fans thought he’d want to stay and get us promoted. Wouldnt surprise me at all if he tells Saints he wants the move, and also wouldn’t surprise me if Saints see £15m as a good return on a player who has not played much of a part in his 2 seasons here. Doubling our money to £20m and I think he would definitely be off. Only chance is if Still really likes him and can convince him he will be a big part of the side and he is open to staying for one more season.
