U19 Euros starts in 2 weeks. Guessing it will either be sorted before then or will wait until after. He's comfortably the highest rated player in the England squad.
I'm looking at his Opta defensive stats and scratching my head. - More tackles and possession won (per min) than any other attacking player (bar Fernandes). - Possession won even more than Downes and Ugo. - 2nd in whole squad for most ground duels attempted, and 2nd for successful ground duels, (behind only Fernandes). https://theanalyst.com/football/player/sc-496661/tyler-dibling/stats
I really think that academy players are judged on a different level to other players, more negatively I feel. I don't know why this is but I find it weird and of course unfair.
Would be interesting to see a split for games played under RM and games played under IJ and SR. Under Martin he was an absolute beast and those stats wouldn’t surprise me, but since he left I would be amazed if he was anywhere near close to that. The good thing for us is that in his brief appearances Robinson looks very similar and he should hopefully be here next season.
We've been linked to re-signing Dusan Tadic. Not sure how I feel about it. Rarely do returning players work out and he is 36 now. Will he be anything like the player that we had before?
I'd take the gamble, he's a Sheringham type player with his speed being in his head. He sees and plays passes more quickly than anyone currently in our squad and quality never dies. Think hcdajfu as an impact sub in the Championship.
Even though he never relied on his pace, he will still be a very different player these days. It's also worth thinking how well he would fit in Still's system which sounds like it high-energy and constant pressing from the forwards. I'd probably lean towards going for it as he'd be cheap, but not sure it would work with Still.
Depends really, looking at his stats he is still playing full seasons and contributing nicely, so adding a vastly experienced leader who already knows the club and importantly is still playing regularly isn’t to be sniffed at. Also we are in the Championship, not the Premier League. So on paper it would be a much better move than Lallana last year. But often this type of suggestion is just noise and if Ajax were in for him why the hell would he come here?
We'd be mad not to! It's not happening but we haven't had a playmaker like him since well, him. I'd ****ing love it.
Unlike Adam Lallana, Dusan Tadic was playing for his country in last year’s Euro’s, before retiring from international football. As has been mentioned above, his game relies on vision and imagination and sheer football intelligence rather than speed and strength, and he would be a huge asset in the Championship. Plus, as we are likely to be fielding teams with a lot of young players, his experience would be invaluable.
Dibling's form dropped off, sure, but so did most players. Because Juric was a mess. Certain other players even refused to play. I'm refusing to recognise those games at all as any sort of useful indicator lol. And the point is, if Dibling already proved himself capable, then there is no issue. Robinson looked okay. Too few minutes to judge. Extremely lightweight though.
I'm with you - we have even blamed him for tracking back and losing the ball that leads to a goal, so he definitely does.
Yeah, the Dibling we saw at the start of the season, back when we were all full of hope and excitement, played in exactly that way. He was confident and almost hopeful something would happen every time he got the ball. It's no shock that a young kid struggled to perform when everything around him eventually crumbled apart.
Goddamit. I've mentally already said goodbye to the man and he turns around and says this? Like flies to wanton boys we are to footballers. They kill us for their sport.
Dibling has now pulled out of the U19 Euros due to him nursing a few niggling injuries. I wonder if there is any more to this.
Probably doesn’t want to risk injury before a big move. Didn’t he miss the last game due to muscle tightness or something?
