I would imagine during the transfer window clubs work around the clock. Atalanta have supposedly had 2 bids turned down. Perhaps Saints are trying to get a deal done and dusted, while/ if the Italian club is sleeping! Lol

Bournemouth tend to go a bit unnoticed with their transfer dealings yet in recent years have recruited very well.

I genuinely think it is because the story was written yesterday but delayed/scheduled to post for this morning and they didnt clock that "last few hours" wouldnt make sense if the article went out first thing in the morning.

So if we get Diaz and Rak-Sakyi then we are just looking for a midfielder (O’Riley) to complete our business?

If we can reach this point over the next 10 days I'll be delighted. As you say, loans could then follow and are generally far better value for money as you get closer to the end of the window.
Yeah the loans are what potentially makes or breaks us I feel. Even if we did add those three you’d have to be looking with very Saints tinted glasses to say that our squad wasn’t one of the worst three in the division. Get 2 good PL level players in on loan and that could be crucial to seeing us survive
Currently there is talk that both the Rak-Sakyi and Diaz deals could be loans which would use up both slots, so just have to wait and see.
Yes but the way the rules work (in my understanding anyway) is you can only register 2 loan players full stop at any time. So doesn’t matter if they are domestic or not.
What I read doesn’t mention anything about domestic loans at all, just that you can’t lon more than 4 players across the season, with only 2 registered at any one time. And that you can’t loan more than one player from another PL club. With these rules I don’t know if Rak-Sakyi would have to be registered as he doesn’t turn 22 until October. He would still count as one of the 4 loans, but we could loan in 2 others who need to be registered and have all 3 playing at once

They are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

So do foreign loans not count towards the two after all?

Unless National Association has a different definition to what we are assuming and only applies to U.K. associations. So it isn’t clear
Anyone know if it has changed this year? If not checking the squads from last year might have an answer ?
I have checked various sources and you can loan as many players from other associations as you please.

So, that article starts with the following:
Loans between Premier League clubs and other English counterparts are officially called temporary transfers.
Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2023/24 (Download PDF, size: 16MB), there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.
To me that means we can loan from abroad ok and thus above the 2 domestic loans
