Lots of the gossip sites suggest that Matt O’Riley’s price is creeping up to £50m. Even if that is a negotiation position I expect that rules us out

Expect Leicester to buy him for a large fee, they need to replace KDH
That was a weird signing by Chelsea. Even with the ex manager. They should definitely be able to recruit better than him. Makes sense for Leicester as it’s one of those pure profit sales.

Two points on this. Firstly, the two-team Scottish media, both conventional and social are quite hilarious in the potential fees they attribute to outgoing players. Alfredo Morelos was touted as a £60m target for Real Madrid at one point which, for a player who appeared somewhat reluctant to walk past a Greggs without stopping was one of the funniest things I've seen in all my years up here. Secondly, I saw O'Riley quite a bit last year. Even his agent wouldn't think he was worth more than £20m. I'd be staggered if he went for more.

Any idea on the fee for Sagawara?

Does seem we are taking a similar approach to SRs first season where we are spreading the money relatively thin to address lots of areas in one window. We just aren’t signing predominantly kids this time

Interesting given he has a transfermarkt value of €16m and signed on a long deal last year for €8m. You’d think £10m would be what they should expect “on paper”. But if they really want rid, which I guess they must, then we presumably wanted a discount.

Newcastle Chronicle's chief NUFC writer says Ryan Fraser has agreed terms with Saints, it's just down to Newcastle and Fraser to come to a settlement but the deal is otherwise 'imminent'

Newcastle and Fraser? So it sounds like he is taking a wage cut to come here - which he would have to based on his reported Newcastle salary

THB
Lallana
Taylor
Wood
Edwards
Sugawara
Fraser

So 7 signings so far with still midfield and striker to address, possibly a keeper as well. Could see another 3 or 4 coming in at least

Reactions: Lemons and Oranges
Pre contract suggests joining in January. So a chance of losing out if someone wants to pay to get him now. But also suggests he isn’t a priority

Yeah the report the other day said we want to sign him on a free in January, Torino want him now and are happy to pay a fee

I can't work out if Ipswich's interest in him is a good thing or a bad thing.

Leif Davis was the best LB in the Championship last season - and by quite some distance I would suggest. So if Ipswich see Wellington as an upgrade on Davis, that is pretty promising signs for Wellington's ability (of which I have no clue). But alternatively, if Ipswich see Wellington as merely a squad option, to provide cover for Davis, then that's not a great sign of his ability.

But we also need a squad option as well. And full backs do a lot of running so we arguably need more depth there. We were a bit short at full back last year
