Just found this on a rumour site, very unlikely IMO.

SFC are in advanced talks with Burnley to bring back Nathan Redmond.

Redmond will replace Sulemana who is being moved on - a club in France has put in a bid for him. Club see Redmond as good value as part of the transfer profile strategy that they are employing this summer - experienced voice in the dressing room to help the younger players, still well-respected by the coaching staff and in the last year of his contract at his current club.

Discussing 2 year contract. £2m fee, wages around £45-£50k per week. Talks well-advanced. Both clubs keen, just need player to agree personal terms. Hoping to have it concluded in time for player to take part in pre-season from 18th July.

Selling Sulemana? Yes please.
Redmond as his replacement? Absolutely not.

They were talking about making up fake rumours on SWs on the rumours site, this is one that they had written.

I seen it on a site called Southampton rumours, haven’t seen elsewhere yet…..,news now will be the first I reckon.

I'm sure numerous lame sites will run with it when they see it, the kids on SW will proceed to have a frenzy over that. Strange. Redmond is probably believable enough to take the bait too.

Be very surprised if the club went for another young keeper. Can see them bringing an older keeper in on loan/short deal to compete with McCarthy (if he stays) until Bazunu is fit. But they may just roll with McCarthy with Lumley as backup if he signs

The goalkeeping situation is an interesting one as there are a few clubs where there is stiff competition which could lead to us landing an upgrade.
- You have Brighton rotating between Steele and Verbruggen (not to mention Rushworth coming back from loan after a successful spell at Swansea).
- There's the battle between Pope and Dubravka at Newcastle.
- Ramsdale wants to leave Arsenal for first team football (rumoured for Newcastle or Chelsea)
- Kelleher is also rumoured to be leaving Liverpool for first team football too.

With so much potential movement in the market, I'd be kinda disappointed if we opted to renew McCarthy's contract without seeing who else we could possibly land.

Totally agree, we need an upgrade on Alex regardless of the Baz injury, Kelleher would be my choice.

There were great goalkeepers available before and we still opted for Bazunu and renewing McCarthy’s contract.

I have zero faith in the club to recruit a good goalkeeper at this point
