Never seen him play but the idea of a young player jumping from league 1 to the PL gives me Bazunu vibes
Never seen him play but have heard he’s regarded as a big talent. Would fit our usual signing strategy aswell so can see some truth in it Would still like another more experienced centre back aswell, would mean that Lyanco and ABK would probably have to be moved on for squad space though. As can’t see THB, Stephens or Bednarek going this window
Seems like a done deal, €20m. So Everton don’t seem bothered by potential FFP punishments unless they are selling a few more youngsters to Villa
Bednarek and Stephens are entering the final year of their contracts. Wouldn't be surprised if Bednarek wants to leave/we want to get a fee for him if he doesn't want to sign a new contract. He's been here a long time too. Don't think those things are as pressing with Jack as don't think he would bring in much of a fee anyway, nor do I think he can really do any better than us so although they are both going into their final year, I see their situations as being a bit different.
He is very highly rated and in the final year of his contract so would likely cost very little. Wages would be small too. Seems a good deal.
Guessing you sign him now as the 4th option and if we get relegated he bumps up the pecking order next year.
Yeah I definitely like the strategy of building a squad this summer with half an eye on if we get relegated being in a good position to come straight back. The vast majority of our 22/23 squad that helped us get promoted won’t be here in 25/26 regardless of what division we are in Has Armstrong signed an extension or is he in his final year aswell?
Knew Bednarek was out of contract, didn’t realise Stephens was as well. I’d look to move Stephens on and keep Bednarek for at least this season but I think the club will keep both unless one of them really kicks off about leaving. Bednarek does seem like a good option for a Saudi side
