Extraordinary window, the recruitment can’t be accused of being lazy.
Here was arguably our best fit team in contract at the final whistle of the play off final (not including THB)

Lumley
Bednarek - Stephens - ABK
KWP - Aribo - Smallbone - Manning
A.Armstrong - Mara - Edozie

Only one player who everyone would hang their hat on to perform consistently well in the premier league.
We end the window with every position strengthened, That one player still in the squad, a lot more premier league experience and already a visible increase in quality from the cameo appearances of the new signings.

Whether it’s enough remains to be seen, but I had no hope coming into this season and now I have a little.

I see Ings will stay and rot away at West Ham and really surprised not one team signed Stuey on a free, really surprised.
Keeping his wages at the level was clearly the most important thing. I think he still has two years as well. I’m never sure how West Ham constantly do it. Although at least recently the reason seems to have been a few big sales. Before that they signed flop after flop, never made notable sales and seemed to keep piling in new signings every year.

It can’t solely be “tax payer subsidised” stadium

Still time for free transfers but you’d like to think teams would have wanted him in an integrated. But I thought I saw he was on 60-65k a week here (when in the prem). If he wants a similar deal he might not get it and he might have been hoping for more as a free agent. But PSR I assume impacts wage bills as well but that is lesser talked about

I wonder how much of the wages we are covering for the loans - Lesley is reportedly 45k and Cornet 65k. Have to assume the latter at least is all of it because that would have been West Ham’s intention with the loan

They did, but he chose Everton late on yesterday as like Nelson who chose Fulham late on over them as well.
Just like Cornet jumped to palace last minute, oh wait, no he didn’t, he stayed with his original decision :emoticon-0100-smile
I think Ipswich were trying to use his injury to get more favourable terms. Likely lower fee, wage contribution and final fee in the form of option of obligation

Sounds like Chelsea didn’t go for that apart from the initially reported obligation seems to be an option for Everton.

I've been tracking every rumour that I've seen this summer - unsurprisingly, only a few actually come off but really demonstrates how many rumours you can sift through in one window.

I thought Sheffield Wednesday were sniffing around him, might still yet but surly has to lower his wage demands.

I'm very happy with what we have done. Both in terms of the personnel and what we've paid for them.

However, my concern is over what we haven't done.

Is our squad better than what it was at the end of last season? Absolutely yes. But do I think it's good enough to stay up? Unfortunately, no.

And therefore, whilst I have no complaints over the players acquired, I do find myself slightly uneasy about the window as a whole. Think I'd rate it as a 7/10. That's not necessarily a criticism of SR though, because our circumstances were such that we couldn't just buy our way to survival.

Couldn’t quite bring myself to read through every name, but noticed on my skimming that Delap is on there a few times, and Romeo Akachukwu doesn’t have a green tick, but we did bring him in for the U21s (& he came off the bench for us in the league cup).

Fair play, that's a comprehensive list :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Romeo Akachukwu signed too so you missed his little tick but hardly surprising in that crowd of rumours

Well spotted; I knew there'd be a duplicate somewhere. Got hard to keep track of after a while <laugh>

The Swiss Ramble landed in my inbox just now. Here are some selected nuggets of general info and Saints specific bites.

Chelsea had the highest gross transfer spend for the third year in a row, i.e. ever since the Clearlake Capital crew bought the club from Roman Abramovich, with a chunky £265m.

The other side of the coin for Chelsea is that they also had the highest sales with £186m, which is the fourth consecutive year they have achieved this, followed by Aston Villa £172m and Manchester City £168m.

There were three other Premier League clubs that generated more than £100m from player sales this summer, namely Wolves £109m, Manchester United £106m and Crystal Palace £102m.

In terms of net spend, we find a surprising name at the top of the table, as Brighton’s £186m was easily the highest in the Premier League.

The next highest was actually Ipswich Town, whose £127m highlighted how much a promoted club has to spend if it wants to have any chance of being competitive in the Premier League, especially if it has been out of England’s top flight for many years.

The other two clubs promoted from the Championship last season were also in the top eight: Southampton £71m and Leicester City £52m.

Chelsea sold nearly half a billion of players in the last two years with £476m, followed by Manchester City £348m. The next highest in terms of player sales were Wolves £290m, Brighton £248m and Southampton £244m.

Despite the reduction compared to last season, the Premier League remains the top dog, as its £2.4 bln gross spend was more than twice as much as the next highest league, being £1.4 bln more than Serie A £1.0 bln.

In fact, England’s top flight spent more than La Liga £565m, Bundesliga £611m and Serie A £1.0 bln combined.

The third highest league was Ligue 1 £735m, which was something of a surprise, given all of the financial issues arising from the steep reduction in the domestic TV rights.

There was a major slowdown in the Saudi Pro League’s recruitment drive, as gross spend dropped by nearly two thirds to around £300m.

The Premier League also had the highest player sales with £1.7 bln, around a billion more than Serie A £703m, followed by Ligue 1 £591m and La Liga £552m.

Then come England’s EFL Championship with £503m, which was actually ahead of Bundesliga’s £492m.
