That means if we sign 10 we’ve got 3.5k pages of top quality fans opinions to look forwrd to , can’t wait ,
This is the post. The spine of that team is still here. Greaves needs replacing, as do Tufan and Delap but for me Pandur, Giles and Omur are better than Ingram, Traore and Vinagre, Simmons and Longman are better players for a year under their belt and I've total confidence Walter will be eyeing up 3 or 4 very strong players. I was never Oscars biggest fan, my comments were always based around 'he isnt as good as people make out' which I stand by, but he scores goals I cannot deny that. So add him to that bench in the place of sicknote and we are stronger bench wise already. I'm not papering over cracks but the panicking needs to stop. We are not much worse off than we were at the start of 23/24
80% of 100 players is fine by me. Imagine how many agents and players are contacting the club right now? A decent CEO will push them all at the manager and a decent manager will say 'no thank you they dont fit what I want'.
I think this 80% thing is another case of Acun getting taken too literally and his words over-analysed. He probably said the 80% thing to make the point that Tim Walter is being choosy in a good way, in the context of why we aren't rushing to sign any old players as soon as possible. I seriously doubt the specific figure is actually accurate, he's probably just come up with a number off the top of his head.
The 'spine is still there', we've only lost 2 £20m players and our 3rd top scorer from a side that was considered 'weak' on the opening day. I don't think there's much panicking but there's an awful lot of work to do. At present, we also have no senior players on the bench so we're quite a way behind.
We have not got any 20m players? We have also just made around £25m in sales which will in some part be used to bring in quality players that the manager has chosen himself. That squad some people considered 'weak' was assembled by a manager people are still crying about and part of it finished 7th. How come Tim does not get the luxury of starting with a 'weak' squad and the chance to finish 7th with it?
I think he's referencing both Greaves and Delap as 20m pound players who are no longer in the team. I don't think anyone here is criticising Tim, more the people involved in assisting him assemble a squad. I also dont think its unfair for fans to expect progression from one year to the next. There's no bed wetting that we're weaker than on the final day, but weaker than the team that started last season would be a concern. However, I'm sure that won't be the case and the Xi that walks out for the first game will be better than who played at Norwich. The trouble is the lack of rumours I think, especially when Acun has never really played his cards close to his chest. Pandur, Giles and Omur are definite upgrades on Ingram, Vinagre and Traore - but theres still 3 or 4 gaps to plug and no whispers of them being sorted with just a few weeks to go. Again, i still think it will be fine, but the closer we get to the start, the larger the concern.
