I love the fact that as soon as you posted that, Dan Sheldon, probably the most reliable source there is when it comes to Saints has rubbished the story completely. <laugh>

For some reason I read this to myself in the style of Sir Trevor McDonald.

The last line sounded particularly amusing.

As if my football day couldn`t get any worse. One of my son`s oldest pals is called Clark Robertson. They went to the toddlers group together, they played in the same school teams. My son is to be a `groomsman` (what ever that is) at his wedding next year. Clark went on to play for Aberdeen, Blackpool and Rotherham. I was delighted when he scored for Blackpool in a win at nottarF a few seasons ago. Now he`s gone and signed for the skates. I keep thinking that today is all some kind of sick wind up, and in reality it`ll all be OK.

Hope it is rubbish and he wants to stay, only posting what I’ve heard from someone within the club. My one & only other snippet was when Hughes was about to be announced, from the same ‘source’.

The trouble is everyone knows that Liverpool won the league by buying a shed load of our players and now every other club thinks they could would win the league if they did the same.

Really disappointing that it never worked out with Gunn. We spent £10m on him when we could have done with spending the money elsewhere and he's been a massive flop for us. At least we have been decisive and sold up rather than continue to loan him out hoping he will develop into our future keeper. Still think we should sell one of McCarthy or Forster and keep the other as backup while bringing in a new number 1. Although we don't have a good record with bringin in GKs and realistically our current GKs earn first choice GK money, so will be a drain on our limited resources to keep them as second choice.

I’m not sure he’s been that much of a flop but certainly disappointing that his progress has been relatively slow. Still quite young though and I’m sure he will improve as we hoped he would with us - but not when the competition is McCarthy and Foster. Both good keepers who will be pushing to get back in the England side once we get a decent defence in front of them at St Mary’s.

Disappointed it didn’t work out with Gunn. Think there is a talented player there but our inability to move on McCarthy and especially Forster meant the writing was on the wall for him a season ago.

I’d back him to be better than both when he does hit his peak, just didn’t work out for him here

Agreed. Glad he has gone back to Norwich, he knows the club and was successful there in the past. It is a good place for him to get re-established and develop further.
I think he was a bit unlucky with us and paid the price for Ralph struggling to find the right defensive system and ever moving parts ahead of him (Danso at RB is best forgotten). The 1st 9-0 was a breaking point and there was no way back for him after that.

Absolutely nothing coming out (with any credibility) about incomings but somehow, I feel we might end up seeing Romain, Armstrong and B Williams. That would represent a fairly good window in my book. I think another ‘10’ would only be if Djenepo goes out on loan somewhere.

I do feel Redmond needs a fresh start somewhere but Ralph is a big fan so possibly not happening.

I agree, in my eyes we need a new number 1. A goalie that doesn't panic with ball at his feet.

Ralph has confirmed Fraser & McCarthy will both battle for no.1 this season so no chance of that. Both their deals are up in the summer though so whatever happens there will be movement on that front next season.

I don't think either are good enough so hopefully we let both their contracts expire and buy in a new no.1 and perhaps an older back up on free transfer.

Reports that we have shown a interest in Arsenal CB William Saliba., If this is the case, Surely Southampton must be thinking about cashing in on Vestergaard.

Goodness. I hope the interest in Saliba is off the mark. Check out the wiki page on him. Is that really the sort of player we want here??
