Milo Rashica (winger) also gets a mention but not sure we need another winger - especially if his real desire is to play for Liverpool!!!
Although history shows that getting a move to Southampton is a good way of ending up at Liverpool if you can cut it in the PL.

I'm hearing unconfirmed rumours that there will, in fact, be a summer of 2020. Reports that the earth will simply disappear in a puff of smoke on June 13th are reckoned to be wide of the mark, per Alan Nixon.
It won't disappear in a puff of smoke that's silly. It may become flat, acquire a second moon and plentiful supplies of tin foil.

OK. Let's try and get this back on track....

Yes, Joakim Maehle still bubbles in the background despite him signing an extension at Genk (could just be a tool to demand a higher fee..). The other RB, as mentioned, is Deyovaisio Zeefuik if we opt not to keep Kyle Walker Peters. Then again we could make that KWP transfer permanent and let Valery go.

Olivier Ntcham (Celtic) has been hinted as a possible replacement for Hojbjerg should they not feel Smallbone is quite ready. Harry Reed will join Fulham permanently I suspect.

But CB is still our priority with Omar Colley (Sampdoria), Mohamed Simakan and Jean-Clair Todibo cropping up regularly in the rumours

Would love to hear that one or two academy products are ready to step up but I think the new strategy is not to big them up but they just grab the chance when it is offered like Obafemi, Valery and Smallbone,
Good summary and I agree we need to sure up our defence esp RB and CB
Other than that it would simply be replacing PEH if he goes, happy with Smallbone but would leave us short if he wasn't replaced
Scoring isn't an issue its just stopping the opposition where we need to tighten

I was quite surprised by the reports in the Echo this week about how close Leeds were to signing Che Adams. At the time, I had felt that the reports were more about Leeds intensions rather than any serious consideration by Saints. It will be interesting to see if we cash in. My feeling is that he will be line Redmond and we will start to appreciate how good Adams is in his second season. I am still not convinced he will be sold.

Will be interesting to see which young players get chances with the expanded subs rules for the rest of the year.

CB is of course a priority. But that has been the case for the previous two seasons too, and we didn't strengthen then. So I wouldn't be banking on this summer, of all summers, to finally solve that.

As for Ntcham, I haven't really seen him play, but I've seen him linked to us, Likewise with Frimpong. Given that we somewhat hold the cards where Celtic are concerned - in that, by all accounts, they want to retain Fraser and Ely - I wouldn't be surprised if something happened on that front.

Agreed but I think Zeefuik will come in instead
Agree about PEH, to me he is our fourth best midfielder and has been part of the defensive issues as he gives the ball away/gets caught in possession too often and is far to slow to get back to rectify his error. Easily replaceable especially if Spurs throw an amazing £35m at us which would be unbelievable
You're correct on both counts in my opinion.
Don't know enough about Zeefuik, but Maehle looked impressive from whatever I've seen. Clear the crap though, that has to be first priority.

Well we've got Ferry, Barnes and Johnson there or thereabouts. Should be good for a place on the bench. There was an article I saw recently about Enzo Robise being ready for his debut but as it was his agent talking I took it with a pinch of salt. I've heard good things about Jankewitz too.

I think we could do with a winger (assuming we sell Boufal). Djenepo is still settling then it’s only really Redmond unless we play JWP and Armstrong out of position.

Johnson is on loan in America, and Barnes is out of contract so doubt they'll be involved.

Wonder if Alex Jankewitz will get a chance soon, have heard really good things about him, even being touted as our replacement if we sell PEH.

I seem to remember two or three Championship centre backs that we were tracking. Mepham ended up at Bournemouth but Dael Fry still keeps being mentioned from time to time. Anyone else that might be ready for the step up?

I only saw him once and he was awful.

is Hjoberg off then?

Sounds and looks like Danso won’t be a great loss, but we have to be more ruthless in the acquisition department.

With regards Hoj, I suspect he maybe a casualty of the project that Ralph has signed up to. It’s pretty clear that Gao’s pockets aren’t that deep but the trouble is that his arms are very short; consequently we will need to sell in order to buy.

I can see why Hoj has been quiet on the subject and with a baby on the way he may look at this as an opportunity to sign a higher value contract if he feels he can get it somewhere.

I don’t think he’s good enough for a top 6 club, maybe not even a top 8 club. But maybe a club overseas that is a Champions League regular.

There’s part of me that wants him to stay and be part of the project but I think he has had so many misses and very few hits during his time that he may just need to start again somewhere.

Ultimately, if he wants to sign on, I’d be ok with that, if he doesn’t, then I don’t think he’ll play a part when and if we restart as it will be time to sell and with less than a year on his contract, he could get injured, etc.
