Not coming here then. Reports in Holland are claiming tonight that Ibrahim Sangare is set to have a medical at PSV tomorrow.
Surely we can't have missed out to PSV - youd think we would be more attractive and offer more financially. Hopefully we have someone else lined up.
How do we know that Sangare would be better than Davies anyway? The latter at least won't have to adjust to the PL and I think that he suffers from have a bit of an ordinary name and an unusual look. Look at all the foreign imports that have failed to deliver, that's maybe why we can't afford a bigger name now.
Yeah, we don't know he would. But I have seen Davies play plenty and he is average on a good day - there is a reason Everton fans want him gone. Plus, I don't see anyone else lining up to buy him. Whereas Sangare has attracted plenty of interest for a reason. Regardless, it doesn't look particularly likely that we will get either!
But if Sangare has attracted all this interest, I don’t see why he’s potentially going to PSV. Surely bigger/prem teams would have made the move if he was that rated. Loftus-Cheek I think is exactly what we need, a big presence in CM who can play box to box.
I'll admit that I haven't watched many Everton full matches to make much of a judgement on him, he has however made over 100 PL appearances some as Captain and has played 19 times for England U21. The same things were being said about JWP here at his age and now nobody would want to see him gone.
I do rate RLC, but Im wondering if his defensive work is up for playing in a midfield two. He always strikes me as a CM that pushes forward and leaves gaps
Yeah but he's not a foreign, exotic unknown so our fans wont get excited over him. FWIW, I agree with you.
Indeed. I'm not focused on the angle that we've missed out on him (because I'd never heard of him until this week, how am I meant to form any opinion on how I feel that we won't be signing him?). What I'm focused on is that he's chosen PSV. That arguably says a lot about what his current level truly is?
I'm inclined to agree with you. And as such, it leaves me in two minds. I don't think that we currently have the type of CM which you describe, so I could certainly see him filling a vacant role for us. Which is a good thing. The problem is, it's not the number one most important role which we need to fill. Maybe only third down on the list of priorities? If we were to get him, and a more defensive CM, I would provide Ralph with the option of sometimes playing RLC just off Ings, in between Armstrong and Redmond. With JWP and the defensive CM sat behind. I would absolutely take RLC, no question. But if he was our only midfield signing, I would still be left very concerned.
