If Benkovic hasn't signed we are very short at the back. Only 3 cb's and 1 rb. Bacuna is not the answer at rb. Looking much better at no. 10/wingers and keeper but concerned with the defence. Suspensions or I juries and we have a problem. 3 left backs is not the answer.
Yes why 3 keepers and 1 RB? If we get injuries across our back 4 there’s only Bamba and Cunningham as cover.
Cardiff City are delighted to confirm the signing of Filip Benković on loan from Leicester City. The 23-year-old is a Croatian international centre-back, who began his career at Dinamo Zagreb. He moved to the UK in 2018, joining Leicester. While he is yet to make his Premier League bow for the Foxes, the towering defender has experienced SPFL & Championship football in the past two seasons, enjoying temporary spells with Celtic and Bristol City. Filip links up with the Bluebirds for the entirety of the 2020/21 Championship campaign, subject to international clearance.
Credit where it's due, a better window than at first seemed likely. It's now down to Harris to mould it into a motivated and effective squad.
We didnt get the elusive RB, but the window could have been a lot worse. A smaller squad than previously which isn't a bad thing. Cover in most positions with additions that allow different formations to be played. Positive on the whole.
If they'd known about this, would we have got Benkovic? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54595923
I don't think you can have an instant recall clause in a season long loan deal, but I've a feeling recalls can be made within the January window.
He’s only 28 - seems to have been around for ever - it was ten whole years ago when he was hung out to dry by Dave Jones for an unfortunate og at Ipswich. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...harlton-athletic-sign-former-cardiff-19168302
Suggest Harris has a look at the availability of out of contract right backs as this Bacuna standing in is painful. To not get a RB in the window was a huge error.
I can't put a like to that news. If Bacuna gets injured or suspended then we're totally Donald Ducked. The only positive thing is he will be an experienced right back by the end of it all. However his energy is needed in midfield. As you said, time to trawl the list of out of contract players for a suitable candidate.
I can't find an out of contract right back unless we fancy Angel Rangel. Dodgy club history, 37 years old and probably still recovering from injury.
