I've always liked Gunter. I'd have him back

OK guys, transfer window opens today. Assuming we're still in the Championship next season, in what area of the pitch do we need some new blood? We'll leave Premier status alone for the moment until it actually happens if it ever does.

Starting from the back, we're blessed with two fine keepers (if they both stay)

Assuming Sanderson and Brad Smith go back to their parent clubs, then a RB and LB are obvious positions. CB's look OK to me.

Middle of the park also seems pretty strong defensively as long as we can rely on Tomlin as a regular playmaker in front of them - otherwise that No.10 role needs to be looked at serioulsly.

Out wide with NML, Hoilett, Murphy and White there's still something lacking for me - maybe well worth a look around

Up front we've got Glatzel and Ward as serious strikers with a makeshift one in Paterson - the jury is out on him unless we're still going to play Warnockball. This is an obvious area but unless we're going to take a chance on a lower division up and comer, this is a position that tends to cost big bucks.

So, where do we really need to strengthen?

To do what? He's past it. Only thirteen, yes 13, games for Reading, a mid table team, this season.

Just because he was good once doesn't mean he's good now.

Certainly right back. While Bacuna has done a good job recently, we haven't got one so 2 needed.

With Bennett, Cunningham and the youngster Bagan I think we are okay at left back.

Midfield - could certainly use a Tomlin mark 2. Plenty of grunt already to do the hard work.

Wingers - I think Murphy will go. I agree something extra is needed. For me NML is not all that. For all the praise since the return, he runs up too many blind alleys and loses the ball often. I haven't really seen the blistering pace from last season. Hoilett has done well with vital goals but can't beat his man like he used to. Whyte has a lot to learn and needs an end product. If he doesn't have one then move him on. Certainly one new winger needed if not two.

StrIkers - not enough goals amongst them. Glatzel improving and Ward always useful off the bench. Pato not a striker but useful as a utility player. As ever a striker with goals would be brilliant. Not necessarily 20 a season, 15 plus would be good.

    No idea who though.

I think it's all about a bit of quality in midfield. Our goals are coming from all over the place which is excellent, but I think someone who can feed Glatzel when he's facing goal will have a profound effect. Defensively, we seem ok though I agree a right back would be in order. It's going to be interesting with clubs not having much cash to flash and especially with the future still uncertain.

A right back or two, a number 10 as back up to tomlin, another wide man and another striker unless ward stays.
Chuck in a couple youngsters and job done.

Ward's contract is up. He can do a job for us, if both parties agree, however there are likely to be lots of players becoming available this summer as clubs cut their costs in the current climate. At least we don't need to make wholesale changes which we would have done had we made the Prem

From tonight’s dismal display it’s obvious City will need a right back, some young pacy midfielders and a centre forward in next seasons championship.

The squad needs a shake up.

Warnock hopefully will take Pack & Flint to Boro.

    We need a striker.
    Id give Ward a deal.
    Glatzel just isnt good enough.
Agree a right back. Not Gunter though.

Tonights result should give Harris a fair idea as to which market to shop in for next year.:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Right I want to read about Harris’ attempts to energise this team. No more one footed slow central midfielders. Young energetic and dynamic is the way to go.

He needs to find a young a Tomlin and kids who can run in a straight line and pass in front of themselves.

    Oh and a right back<doh>
