Coventry City negotiating with Pompey to sign centre half Tom Davies permanently for a fee, as well as waiting to sign veteran midfielder Carl Baker on a free transfer from us, once Pompey have agreed compensation with the player, as he still has one year to go under his existing contract.

Not sorry to see Tom Davies go, as every time I've seen him play, he has made a number of errors, so not good enough for Division One, in my opinion.

Very sorry to see Carl Baker depart, as I feel he still has much to offer us as a player. Have heard a rumour that we are interested in signing 27 year old midfielder Josh Wright from Gillingham, who have just released him.

    Transfer Deadline Day:

So far, we have sold Tom Davies to Coventry for an undisclosed fee, and agreed a settlement with Carl Baker who has left the club, and is presumably to now also sign for Coventry.

We have signed giant striker Oliver Hawkins from National League side Dagenham & Redbridge and Cardiff midfielder Stuart O'Keefe on loan.

Hawkins, 25, joins on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee after netting 18 goals for the Daggers last season.

O'Keefe, 26, will join Kenny Jackett's side for the remainder of the season.

He made 18 appearances in League One last season while on loan at MK Dons and also featured against Pompey for Cardiff in the EFL Cup this season.

Apparently, we are also interested in signing 22 year old Scottish winger Matthew Kennedy on loan from Cardiff. He was on loan to Argyle end of last season, and apparently played well for them, scoring 5 goals in 17 matches.

Colchester United have made a further addition to their forward ranks with the signature of prolific front man Nicke Kabamba.

"Nicke joins the U's from Portsmouth until January to give Head Coach John McGreal another option in the coming months.

He arrived at Fratton Park in January of this year, after scoring 33 in 70 games for Hampton & Richmond.

Those goals continued his rate of scoring at around one in two throughout his early years and the now 24-year-old penned an eighteen month deal with Pompey.

He will now look to build on that during his loan stint with the U's, subect to a medical and relevent paperwork ratification".

I reckon that a loan move for Nicke to a 2nd division side will benefit him no end. Hope he scores a lot of goals for them.

Pompey have secured defender Damien McCrory on loan.

As earlier broken by The News, the Blues had identified to Burton Albion man as a potential solution to strengthening the left-back role in Kenny Jackett's team.

Now they have completed a loan deal for the 27-year-old until January. 6'0" tall, and can also play as a winger.

McCrory has made 196 appearances and scored 10 goals for Burton, while started last weekend's 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

He joins Oliver Hawkins and Stuart O'Keefe in arriving during what is developing into a busy deadline day.

The Blues still hope to capture Cardiff's Matty Kennedy on loan before the 11pm deadline.

Portsmouth Football Club can confirm that Michael Smith has left the club by mutual consent.

The striker netted 10 goals in his 37 appearances for the Blues after arriving – initially on loan – in February 2016.

Three of those came in League Two last term, with a crucial equaliser at Cheltenham that helped secure the title.

Smith also bagged a hat-trick at Yeovil in a 4-3 group stage defeat in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Wonder where he will end up ?

Smithy has just signed a two year deal with Bury. Good luck to the lad. Shame that it didn't work out for him at FP.

Matty Kennedy has become Pompey's fourth signing of deadline day. The Cardiff winger has arrived on a season-long loan on a busy end to the transfer window for the Blues. Kennedy had impressed against Kenny Jackett's side in the Carabao Cup encounter earlier this month, proving a constant threat. Now Pompey have snapped up the 22-year-old to boost their attacking capabilities.

Kennedy joins Oliver Hawkins, Stuart O'Keefe and Damien McCrory in today arriving at Fratton Park.

4 new arrivals, and 4 departures in Davies/Baker/Kabamba/Smith. Not a bad day's business by Pompey - well done Kenny Jackett and Mark Catlin :emoticon-0137-clapp

A good day for us. Partly disappointed that Nick K has been loaned out...also hope that the loans don't edge out the local youngsters who are just breaking in to the team. But definitely some good signings.

I understand the logic of getting Kabamba out on loan to a lower league side so that he get first team football and a better chamce to develop but I dont understand bringing in Hawkins as a replacement when he's just as unproven in the professional leagues, unless he fits a style of play that Kabamba doesn't.

Shock twist in Carl Baker's future!! Instead of the expected move back to Coventry City, he is rumoured to be about to sign for Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League. If he signs, he will play alongside former Manchester United pair Dimitar Berbatov and Wes Brown.

I thought the reason he wanted to sign for Coventry was to do with the travelling time between his home up there and Portsmouth, so he could be near his family!!
India is a bit further away - hope someone has pointed this out to him :)

Due to our dire position regarding fit and available defenders, we are apparently currently giving a trial to 27 year old Danish centre half Thomas Juel-Nielsen, spotted at our training ground today. He is 6' 2 and a 1/2" tall. May possibly play against Crawley Town tomorrow night in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Just read this on another football site.....

"Transfer Rumour: Portsmouth are keen to sign Boreham Wood attacker Bruno Andrade, aged 24.

The League One club are ready to make a move for the seven-goal forward, who scored the winner against Eastleigh on Tuesday night.

We have learned Pompey are keen to sign Andrade following a lively start to the Vanarama National League season and Wood, should the former Premier League club meet their valuation for the player, won’t stand in his way.

A source said: “A few clubs are keen but Pompey are in control of the situation.

“Bruno has been in great form this season and he is seen as a player with a big future in the game.

“They have had him watched a number of times and they are getting closer to an agreement.”

Portsmouth have a rich recent history of giving EFL chances to Non-League players.

Late last year they took both Nicke Kabamaba and Jamal Lowe from National League South club Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Then on the final day of the August transfer window they landed long-term target Oliver Hawkins, the Dagenham & Redbridge target man.

Andrade is a player they are keen to add to their haul but there is also said to be interest from Peterborough United"

He was born in Portugal, is 5' 9" tall, a midfielder/striker, and formerly a youth player at QPR.

Good player when he was with us on loan from Brentford in 2014. Reminds me a bit of Amine Linganzi with regards to stature and ability.

Hope he plays better for Argyle than their other ex-Pompey signing this season in Nadir Ciftci.

We are now apparently looking at 26 year old left winger or striker Corey Whitely, who plays for Dagenham & Redbridge where he is top scorer with 8 goals already this season in the National League. Having looked at the video of his performances below, he looks quick, with no shortage of talent.

Pompey are interested in Victor Adeboyejo, reports suggest. According to the Bolton News, Blues boss Kenny Jackett has his radar on the Nigerian – but the Trotters are leading the way to land the striker. Adeboyejo, 19, was at Leyton Orient between 2014 and 2017 and made 15 appearances for the O’s. After leaving Brisbane Road this summer, following their relegation from League Two last season, the front man has been training with Chelsea. He featured in the Blues’ 3-1 loss to Swansea City in Premier League 2 on Friday. As a youngster, Adeboyejo also spent time at Arsenal, AFC Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic. Barnsley have also reportedly expressed interest in the former Margate Town loanee. Pompey have recently been linked with Boreham Wood’s Bruno Andrade, joint-top goalscorer in the National League.

Kings Langley youngster Ceykan Karagozlu featured for Pompey reserves in their game against Bristol City under-23s today. The 18-year-old has been training with the Blues’ first team for several weeks and was handed an outing in the 2-0 Central League Cup defeat at Privett Park. The midfielder played 63 minutes, before being replaced by Dan Smith in Mikey Harris’ side. Karagozlu has featured three times for Evo-Stik Southern League premier division side Kings Langley this season. He joined the Kings from Cockfosters during the summer.
